Re: ABIGAIL OBERMILLER - 17 yo - Norwalk (W of Cleveland) OH / MI and WV Alerted
Rose Obermiller is hoping her missing teenage daughter, Abbi, isn't hurt.
"That would be my first concern," the North Fairfield mother said.
Authorities also are concerned about the 17-year-old girl's well-being.
"Obviously our overall concern is the safety and well-being of Abbi. We want to
see her returned safely to her family, but since no one credible has had
any direct contact with her, it raises our level of concern," Norwalk
Police Chief Dave Light said.
Abbi Obermiller was last seen at her grandparents' 73 N. Prospect St. house about 1 a.m. June 7. The
Norwalk couple reported their granddaughter was missing at 5:54 a.m.
The girl, who just completed her junior year at South Central High School,
was visiting her grandparents when she went missing.
The slender teenager is 5 feet 10 to 11 inches tall. She has
brown, shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. It's unknown what she was last seen wearing.
Her father told police "it's not like her to not to call," Light said.
Rose Obermiller agreed, saying their daughter is "open with everything."
"This is a girl who is ranked No. 1 in her class," the mother said.
"I know her whereabouts at all times. ... If she goes any place, we knew exactly where she's at,
who she's with and what she's doing," she continued.
Abbi Obermiller has been dating Robert J. "Bobby" Young, 20, of 208 Exchange
Road, New London, since about August. Light and Detective Sgt. Todd
Temple, who is investigating the case, arrested and interviewed Young in
connection with the girl's disappearance Monday.
"He was saying he had no contact with her, but text messages showed differently," Light said.
"I'm convinced the boyfriend knows more about her whereabouts than what he is telling us," the chief added.
Young initially agreed to take a polygraph test, Light said, but then refused
to do so after conferring with an attorney.
"He's saying he doesn't know where she is," Light said. "He has a very arrogant attitude
about this whole thing."
Young was charged with obstructing official business and was released Monday from the Norwalk police
station after someone posted his bond.
Temple declined to call Young a suspect in the case Wednesday, but said he is a "person of interest."
"He's a person we're talking to," the detective added.
"There have been multiple cell phone conversations" between the girl and
Young, Temple said, "but her cell phone was cut off after she was reported missing or disconnected."
Rose Obermiller said it's very unusual for her daughter not to be texting her friends. The mother said
Abbi's friends want her to be found as much as her relatives.
In most missing juvenile cases, Light explained, officers can find someone
who knows the person in question or has had contact with him or her and
that helps police find the child.
"But none of (Abbi's) friends or family have had any contact with her," Light said.
Temple was asked if he thinks Abbi has been harmed or is in danger of being hurt.
"I don't want to speculate on that. ... She's not with her parents or her
grandparents," he said. The girl's mother also suspects Young is involved in her daughter's disappearance.
"I do think Bobby knows something," she said.
"He says he loves her, but he refuses to take a polygraph," Rose Obermiller said, adding she'd think Young would want to
do everything possible to help find Abbi. "Her family really wants her home," the mother said.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of North Fairfield resident Abbi
Obermiller is encouraged to call the Norwalk Police Department at (419) 663-6780 or (419) 668-3311.

Re: ABIGAIL OBERMILLER - 17 yo - Norwalk (W of Cleveland) OH / MI and WV Alerted
The search continues for Abbi Obermiller, a 17-year-old North Fairfield
girl who has been missing since June 7.
Norwalk police were hopeful early Sunday morning after they received
what they thought was a tip from an anonymous female caller.
"Dispatch
got a call at quarter to 1 and the call lasted 11 minutes," Detective
Sgt. Jim Fulton said Sunday evening. "It was a female caller who gave
specific information to the case," Fulton added.
After the call,
Fulton said, officers including himself and Norwalk Police Detective
Todd Temple, a police dog and Bob McDowell from the Prosecutor's office
and Sheriff's Deputy Todd Corbin searched residences on
Fairfield-Angling and Exchange roads.
"We did not find her,"
Fulton said. "We searched extensively and are still following up on
leads."
Obermiller, who will be a senior at South Central High
School this fall, lives at 104 E. Main St., North Fairfield.
She was reported missing just before 6 a.m. June 7. She had been
visiting her grandparents' house at 73 N. Prospect St. in Norwalk,
where she was last seen about five hours earlier.
Anyone with
information on the whereabouts Obermiller is encouraged to call the
Norwalk Police Department at (419) 663-6780 or (419) 668-3311.
"We've
had a lot of cooperation so far from a lot of people," Fulton said.
Fulton
would not speculate on Obermiller's whereabouts or why she
might have ran away.
He said her boyfriend, Robert J. "Bobby"
Young, 20, of 408 Exchange Road, remains a "person of interest."

was cited for obstructing official business in connection with this
case.

Abbi Obermiller's boyfriend said he has nothing to hide. He blames her
parents for the 17-year-old North Fairfield girl's disappearance.
Her family members, however, contend the boyfriend is making
unfounded accusations and say he is involved in her leaving home.
There have been a lot of tips about Abbi Obermiller's disappearance, but
nothing solid. It's been two weeks since she was last seen.
"We will do everything we can to get her back here," Norwalk Police
Detective Sgt. Jim Fulton said.
Fulton, who has pages and pages
of records in the case to scour, took multiple calls Monday night.
Various tipsters placed Obermiller, who has been missing since June 7,
in Florida, Kentucky, Michigan and West Virginia.
"We haven't been able to confirm anything about her whereabouts or where she's
going," Fulton said.
When asked why her daughter might travel to those states, Rose
Obermiller said she has "no idea whatsoever."

a.m. June 7. The teen was visiting her grandparents' house at 73 N.
Prospect St. in Norwalk, where she was last seen about five hours earlier.
On Sunday night, there was prayer vigil for the girl at
South Central. Rose Obermiller said she appreciates the outpouring of
support from her daughter's friends.
The girl's boyfriend, Robert J. Young, 20, of 408 S. Exchange Road, New London, remains a "person of
interest" in the case.
He pleaded "not guilty" to obstructing
official business Monday in Norwalk Municipal Court. Police said there
are cell phone records indicating there have been "multiple cell phone
conversations" between the girl and Young. Chief Dave Light has said
he's "convinced the boyfriend knows more about her whereabouts than what
he is telling us."
"A lot of stuff they have been telling you is
they did come out here with a search warrant, but they were invited in
here voluntarily three or four times," Young told reporters on Monday morning.
Officers used a search warrant Thursday at
Young's home, but didn't find the girl and didn't seize any evidence.
"They said Abbi had called me about an hour before she was reported missing
and that is false. They are reporting we were going to go to West
Virginia to get married. That is false," Young said.
Young accused Abbi's parents of abusing her and her four sisters.
"She left her parents' house to stay with her grandparents because she was
abused at home," Young said. "She was currently not living at home
because she has been abused. They also didn't tell you all of her other
sisters ran away from home."
Amber Enderby, Abbi's sister, said
she couldn't speak for her sisters, but she only went to her
grandparents' house once after an argument with her parents years ago.
"It was a time to work out things with our parents," Enderby said. "What's
going on with Abbi is so much larger."
Her theory is that her
sister was having a disagreement with her parents over dating Young and
that's why she went to her grandparents' house.
"I think Bobby is involved in her leaving," Enderby said.
As for Young's allegations, Rose Obermiller said her daughters didn't "really run away"
and simply needed a "cooling off period."
"They needed a time-out and I needed a time-out," she said.
"They didn't run far," said Obermiller about her daughters going to a relative's house.
"We've found nothing to indicate abuse by her parents," Fulton said.
Young said he believes Abbi is OK.
"The cops are telling me I might
have done something to her. If they are going to talk to anybody, they
should talk to her abusive parents," Young continued.
Abbi's father, James Obermiller, said Young has a history of making unfounded
accusations against his family.
James Obermiller, 58, and his wife, 54, were charged with menacing by stalking in connection their
alleged conduct toward one of Young's relatives on June 7 the same day
Abbi was reported missing.
Rose Obermiller, who was convicted of
the charge after pleading "no contest," talked about the incident in
which she went to the home of Jessica Harper, Young's sister, twice in
less than four or five hours.
"I was at (Young's) sister's house. I was a little bit belligerent," she said.
She said she first went to Harper's house early that morning because she wanted to know "if
Abbi was safe" and came back.
"She said she didn't know anything about anything," Obermiller said.
As for James Obermiller, he will be arraigned July 6 in Norwalk Municipal Court, six days before his
wife's sentencing date. The family said he was at work in Texas during
the incident.
Young said the police investigation is "making me look like a horrible person."
"I have been letting the cops in voluntarily every (time)," he said. "She is not with me.
"I'm caught in the middle. The way they are portraying it is I am trying to
hide it from them. I talked to her about 12:30 the night before. I talk
to her every night. I got the call the next morning that she was gone,"
Young said.
Based on a tip in the case, Norwalk police and the
Huron County Sheriff's Office, with a canine unit, searched residences
on Fairfield Angling and Exchange roads Sunday.
"Nothing was found there," Fulton said.
The investigator encourages anybody
with information about Abbi Obermiller to call the Norwalk Police
Department at (419) 663-6780 or (419) 668-3311. Tipsters can also call

Tipsters can also call
the Huron County Sheriff's Office at (419) 663-2828.

Parents Plead for Ohio Teen's Return After Cops Charge Boyfriend With Hampering Investigation
The mother of a missing Ohio teenager issued a desperate plea Sunday for the missing honor student's safe return after authorities charged her boyfriend with obstruction of justice in her disappearance.
Seventeen-year-old Abigail "Abbi" Obermiller of Huron County, Ohio, was last seen around midnight on June 7 inside her grandmother's home, approximately 10 miles from her parents' residence in Norwalk.
In an interview with FoxNews.com, Abbi's mother, Rose Obermiller, described her daughter as a straight-A student with no history of behavioral problems. She also described the girl's boyfriend, 21-year-old Robert "Bobby" Young, as "very possessive" and "controlling."
Investigators believe the girl left her grandmother's home willingly, citing a note found inside one of her notebooks that indicated problems with her family.
Rose Obermiller said that both she and her husband, James, disapproved of Young, who they say became increasingly possessive over their daughter since the couple began dating last August
She was upset because we didn't like her boyfriend," Overmiller said. "And I think they just made up their mind to get together and leave."
Obermiller said Young often dictated what her daughter wore and controlled where she went and with whom she associated.
"He didn't even want her near her friends during prom," Obermiller said. "She had this beautiful prom dress and she had to sit on the sidelines."
Police allege that Young sent Abbi a string of text messages prior to her disappearance that implicated his involvement in the case.
"It's clear he [boyfriend] sent her text messages of when to leave the house and was aware of who was picking her up," Norwalk Police Sgt. Jim Fulton told Fox 8.
Young has pleaded not guilty in the case and is reportedly scheduled to appear in court on July 7.
"I don't know where she is. I have no idea where to start," he reportedly told the station, adding that he voluntarily allowed police to search the home that he shares with his sister.
An honor student and class treasurer at South Central High School in Greenwich, Ohio, Abbi is described as 5 feet10 inches tall with brown hair and blue eyes, weighing approximately 120 lbs. Obermiller said her daughter, a senior aspiring to become a researcher in oncology, had no behavioral issues and was a model student.
"This is very out of character for Abbi," she said.
Police have labeled the girl's disappearance "endangered," and are urging anyone with information about the case to contact the Norwalk Police Department at 419-663-6780.

Abbi Obermiller, a 17-year-old high school honor student, missing
for three weeks, was found safe at 3:30 this morning, hiding in an
apartment recently rented by her boyfriend.
Sgt. Jim Fulton of the Norwalk Police Department says Abbi was
located in an attic at 222 1/2 East Main Street in New London, Ohio,
the same community in which her boyfriend, Bobby Young, lives.
"We got a tip that she may have been in that apartment," Sgt.Fulton said this morning. "We obtained a search warrant, broke down the
door, and found Bobby Young on a couch, pretending to be sleeping."
Sgt. Fulton says Young denied that Abbi was there, but a search of
the upstairs apartment found her hiding in the attic. Police believe she
had been there the entire time since her June 7 disappearance.
The apartment, not far from the New London Police Department, was
rented by Young about three weeks ago, near the time Abbi disappeared.
Abbi Obermiller was taken into juvenile custody, pending a hearing
later today. Young, 21, who had previous been arrested on charges of
obstructing justice, was arrested at the apartment and will likely face
additional charges.
The girl's parents were immediately notified that she was safe, and
were relieved, according to police, who said Abbi likely ran away with
Bobby because her parents disapproved of their relationship.
The break in the case, which drew national attention, came when the
landlord who rented the apartment to Young returned to Ohio from an
out-of-state trip and heard news reports of Abbi's disappearance.
He told police Young had come in and out the apartment, and that when
Young was not there, he still heard noises in the attic. Police say
Young had been providing Abbi Obermiller with food while she was hiding

The father of Abbi Obermiller, a 17-year-old who had been missing for
more than three weeks, tells Fox 8 News that his daughter has been found
alive and well.
Jim Obermiller says that authorities received an anonymous tip that
claimed Abbi was staying at an apartment in New London, Ohio. Police
followed the lead and found Abbi in the apartment, which had been rented
by her boyfriend, Robert Young, approximately three weeks ago.
In a morning interview with Fox 8 News, Jim said that he had spoken to
Abbi, but he had not yet seen her in person.
Abbi is currently in detention. She will appear in Huron County Juvenile
Court before Judge Timothy Cardwell at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Abbi will appear for a detention hearing to determine if she will stay
in police custody or be returned to her parents. Delinquency and other
charges are expected to be filed against her.
Norwalk Police initially thought that Abbi left her home voluntarily,
but became more and more concerned as time passed with no word regarding
her whereabouts.
Police arrested and charged Young, 20, with obstruction of justice.
Young told Fox 8 News that he didn't know anything about Abbi's
disappearance. Her parents, however, weren't so sure.
Jim and Rose Obermiller spent considerable time putting up fliers in
downtown Norwalk. They said that disappearing without any word to
friends and family was out of character for the 4.0 student.
"Abbi is a people person," Rose Obermiller said. "She's got to be around
a lot of people. She's plain gregarious."
Abbi's friends also did what they could to help. They held a vigil at
South Central High School in Greenwich and painted a rock with the words
"Come Home Abbi."
While Abbi's parents tried to stay busy and remain positive, the extreme
emotion of having a missing daughter was at times too much to bear.
Still, they always believed that she was out there somewhere, and they
didn't rest until she was found.
"The porch lights are on all night long," Rose Obermiller said. "She's
our baby."

Thank God!! I sure do wish these kids would realize that their parents are only trying to help them. To be that spiteful and determined can be good in some situations but this is really stupid. Seems the parents were allowing her to see him and they just took forgranted and advantage of the situation. She needs a good beating and he needs to serve a little time.

Abigail “Abbi” Obermiller will remain in detention at the Sandusky
County Juvenile Detention Center until her next hearing in Huron County
Juvenile Court.
Based on a tip, police used a search warrant in the 200 block of
East Main Street, New London, about 3:30 a.m. today and found the
17-year-old North Fairfield girl hiding in the attic of the apartment.
Obermiller
faces a delinquency charge of obstructing official business. Judge
Timothy Cardwell said the girl hampered Norwalk Police Detective Sgt.
Jim Fulton and Huron County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Leroux from using the
warrant by not following their orders to come down from her hiding
place.
The South Central High School honors student also was
charged with being an unruly child in connection with leaving her
grandparents’ Norwalk house without permission June 7. She was last seen
about 1 a.m.
“That’s what she wanted — to stay with her
boyfriend,” Abbi’s mother, Rose Obermiller, said before today’s hearing.
“But family comes first — and she finally figured that out.”
Her
boyfriend, Robert J. Young, 20, of 408 S. Exchange Road, New London,
rented the upstairs apartment about three weeks ago. He currently is in
custody at the Huron County Jail.
“He was there part of the time (in the apartment). Other times
she was left there alone,” Rose Obermiller said.
Jim Obermiller
said he is very relieved to know his daughter is OK and hugged her as
soon as he saw her.
“She was glad to see us. She told her mother
she was ready to go home,” the father said.
The teenager later
expressed the same thing to the judge and broke down in tears. However,
Cardwell said he agreed with Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer
DeLand that Obermiller needed to remain in custody for her own
well-being and to make sure she returns to court.

Leg and arm restraints for a runaway???
Abbi Obermiller sobbed into her mother’s shoulder as Rose Obermiller and
her daughter heard Huron County Juvenile Court Judge Timothy Cardwell’s ruling.
He ordered the 17-year-old North Fairfield girl to
remain in detention at the Sandusky County Juvenile Detention Center
until her next hearing. Cardwell said he agreed with Huron County
Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer DeLand that Abbi Obermiller needed to

About 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, authorities used a search warrant and
found the straight-A South Central High School student in an East Main
Street, New London, apartment rented by her boyfriend, Robert J. Young.
“She was there the entire time she was missing,” Norwalk Police Detective
Sgt. Jim Fulton said at a press conference before the juvenile court hearing.
Obermiller was last seen at her maternal grandparents’ 73 N.
Prospect St. house about 1 a.m. June 7.
“She wanted to be with her boyfriend. That was pretty clear,” Fulton said.
Before authorities entered the apartment, Fulton, Chief Dave Light, two Huron
County sheriff’s deputies, a New London police officer and a state
trooper set up a perimeter around the building. Fulton estimated Young
had about 1 1/2 hours to get his girlfriend and all of her clothing into the attic.
Young said at first he didn’t know where his
girlfriend was, but Fulton said the presence of tampons and pads in the
bathroom obviously indicated Obermiller was there.
“Why would a guy have those in there if she wasn’t there?,” the detective said.
“We actually had to go into the attic and get her out. … She was burrowed
down in the insulation,” Fulton said.
Obermiller faces a delinquency charge of obstructing official business. Cardwell said the
girl hampered Fulton and Deputy Joe Leroux from using the warrant by not
following their orders to come down from her hiding place. The girl
also was charged with being an unruly child in connection with leaving
her grandparents’ Norwalk house without permission June 7.
Obermillers on Young
Police recovered a jewelry box containing a
wedding ring in the attic. Fulton said Young and Obermiller planned to
get married when she turned 18 in November, but that didn’t happen.
“Until she turns 18, she has to abide by her parents’ rules,” the detective added.
When asked about the ring before Wednesday’s hearing, Rose
Obermiller said she didn’t know anything about it.
“I hope she returns the ring as soon as possible,” the mother said.
Young, 20, of 408 S. Exchange Road, New London, was released Wednesday
afternoon from the Huron County Jail on first-degree misdemeanor charges
of contributing to the unruliness of a minor and interference of
custody after posting a $500 bond. The state dismissed charges of
obstruction of official business and falsification.
“He would not cooperate in the least,” Light said. “He maintained the same smug,
arrogant attitude he’s had throughout the investigation.”
Rose Obermiller talked about Young outside of the Huron County Courthouse.
“He has lost his job. We don’t feel any ill will toward the boy,” she said.
“He was controlling, but never physically violent with her,” the mother said.
Jim Obermiller, Abbi’s father, said the family “always knew
from the beginning (Young) knew something” about his daughter’s
disappearance. Young many times had denied knowing where his girlfriend
was throughout the investigation.
Briefly reunited, apartment living
Jim Obermiller was very relieved to know his daughter is OK and hugged her
as soon as he saw her after she was taken into custody.
“She was glad to see us. She told her mother she was ready to go home,” he said.
Once Abbi is home, the father said getting his daughter’s “life back in order” will be a
priority and wants her to “get back to what 17-year-old girls do.”
“We’re going to go to counseling,” his wife said. “She’s already punished herself.”
About the arrangement in the New London apartment,
Fulton said Young “was there part of the time,” while Abbi Obermiller
“was left there alone” sometimes, but never left. The detective also
said Obermiller provided police with the names of the people who
assisted her in running away and hiding from authorities.
“Those people will be interviewed,” Fulton said. “Most likely there will be
fresh charges.”
The only items police said they found in the
apartment were a double air mattress, a television set and various DVDs;
there was no cable TV connection. Rose Obermiller said her daughter ate
well while she was in the apartment and either read or watched movies —
things she normally does when she’s home.
The mother briefly addressed why her daughter left her grandparents’ house before
Wednesday’s hearing.
“We had a conflict over how much time she
was going to spend with her boyfriend,” she said.
At Wednesday’s hearing, the judge prohibited Abbi Obermiller from having any
association with Young or his family. Cardwell also ordered her to
undergo a substance abuse screen and a psychological evaluation.
“I’m fine with not seeing Bobby. I just want to go home,” Obermiller told
Cardwell as she started crying. “You can put me on house arrest. I just
want to go home.”

Abbi Obermiller, the 17-year-old girl who had been missing for
several weeks before police found her hiding at her boyfriend's
apartment June 30, appeared in juvenile court Tuesday for charges
stemming from her disappearance. Obermiller is facing charges
for obstruction and being an unruly child. In juvenile court, the
suspect either admits or denies the charges, and her attorney denied
both charges. After she entered her plea, she returned to
juvenile detention until her pre-trial hearing. She has been held in a
juvenile detention facility since police found her. Her
boyfriend, Robert Young, 21, appeared in municipal court today facing
charges of obstruction and interfering with custody. Police found
the teen from Norwalk, Ohio hiding in the attack of her boyfriend's New
London apartment. From the time she first went missing, her parents
believed that Young knew of her whereabouts, but he denied having any
involvement.

for obstruction and being an unruly child.

Re: ABIGAIL OBERMILLER - 17 yo - Norwalk (W of Cleveland) OH / MI and WV Alerted
The North Fairfield teen who kept investigators busy for more than
three weeks after she hid out in her boyfriend’s apartment is fighting
the charges filed against her.
Abbi Obermiller, 17, appeared in Huron County juvenile court on
Tuesday with her attorney, Vickie Ruffing, a former Erie County
assistant prosecutor.
Her parents, Jim and Rose Obermiller, looked on as their daughter
appeared on charges of unruliness and obstructing official business, a
second-degree misdemeanor.
She returned to the Erie County juvenile detention center after her
court appearance and is expected to stay there until her next court
date, which has yet to be scheduled.
Court officials are still awaiting results of a physical and
psychological exam Abbi was ordered to undergo, juvenile court
administrator Chris Mushett said.
Abbi’s case attracted national attention. She disappeared from her
home on June 7 and was missing for weeks.
Police found her less than 12 miles from her home, hiding in an attic
at 2271⁄2 E. Main St.
Her boyfriend, Robert J. “Bobby” Young, 20, rented the apartment
about the same time Abbi’s grandparents reported her missing from their
Norwalk home.
Young was initially arrested on June 30 for obstructing official
business, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and falsification,
but those charges were dropped the same day he was arrested.
A jail spokeswoman said Young was instead charged with a single count
of interference with custody. He posted $500 bond on the day of his
arrest and was released from jail.
No one else had been charged in connection with Abbi’s case,
officials said.

Re: ABIGAIL OBERMILLER - 17 yo - Norwalk (W of Cleveland) OH / MI and WV Alerted
Rural New London resident Robert J. Young entered a “not guilty” plea
Tuesday to interference of custody in connection with the investigation
of his girlfriend’s disappearance.
Young, 20, of 408 S. Exchange Road, was in Norwalk Municipal
Court for his initial appearance on the first-degree misdemeanor. If
convicted, he faces up to six months in the Huron County Jail, a maximum
fine of $1,000 and probation.
The defendant told Judge John
Ridge he understood his rights and the court scheduled his next hearing
for July 27. Ridge said Young is accused of enticing or harboring a
child under the age of 18 in connection with a June 30 incident.
Police found Young’s girlfriend, Abbi Obermiller, 17, of North Fairfield, in
the attic of a New London apartment Young started renting soon after the
girl was reported missing from her grandparents’ Norwalk home June 7.
“There is really no allegation he enticed her away from home,” Huron County
Assistant Public Defender David Longo said after Tuesday morning’s hearing.
Longo was in court as an observer. He already represents
Young in a separate, but related case of obstructing official business
and said he expects to be assigned to that case also. Young was
scheduled to be back in court for a pretrial hearing on that charge at
11:30 a.m. today. “There may be more charges; I don’t know,” Longo said.
Young was released June 30 from jail after posting a $500 bond. Norwalk
police earlier interviewed the suspect at the station about his
girlfriend’s disappearance and whereabouts. Investigators repeatedly
have said there are text message records indicating Young had contact
with Obermiller prior to her disappearance — contrary to his story to authorities.
Chief Dave Light, at a press conference the morning
Obermiller was found, said Young “would not cooperate in the least”
while officers attempted to determine where his girlfriend was.
“He maintained the same smug, arrogant attitude he’s had throughout the
investigation,” Light said.
While the judge gave no orders about
Young associating with Obermiller, Longo said he’s told his client, who
is free on bond, to have no contact with her “no matter where she is.”
Obermiller remains in custody at the Sandusky County Juvenile Detention Center.
Young lost his job as a nursing assistant at Admiral’s Point Nursing in Huron during the case, Longo said.

Re: ABIGAIL OBERMILLER - 17 yo - Norwalk (W of Cleveland) OH / MI and WV Alerted
The older boyfriend of a 17-year-old Huron County girl
who went missing for three weeks earlier this summer has been found
guilty of interference with custody.
Robert Young, 20, was sentenced to 180 days in jail -- half of which
were suspended -- and fined $250. Also, he was ordered to have no
contact with Abigail Obermiller for two years.
Norwalk Police say that while Obermiller's family, along with
authorities, spent weeks frantically searching for her, she was secretly
with Young. Police say the couple planned to hide out until November,
when Abbi turns 18, and then run away to get married.
Young's day in court on Wednesday started with the judge denying a
defense motion to suppress evidence. The bench trial started not long
after that.
Young pleaded no contest to interference with custody. The judge found him guilty and sentenced him right away.
Young is to begin serving 90 days behind bars on Saturday. His defense
attorney said that a motion to stay will be filed so that his client
will not have to go to jail until the judge rules on the motion.
