JOSEPHINE COOK - 6 Months - Wallingford (S of Hartford) CT

Wallingford police are searching for a six-month-old child believed
to have been taken by her mother. The child’s name is Josephine
Cook. She is 2 feet tall, weighs 12 lbs. and has blonde hair and blue
eyes.

Police say 41-year-old Christine Cook took the child from a
home on Hanover Street around 10:45 this morning. Cook is
described as 5’3” tall, 140 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes and has a
tattoo of a cougar and panther on her back. Cook has mental
issues, could be aggressive and has said she wished she never had the
child, police say. Wallingford police say she may be driving a
2000 Red Dodge Caravan with Connecticut plates: 233-XWX. Anyone
with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Wallingford
police at 203-294-2800.

Police have issued a “silver alert” for a 6-month-old baby who
disappeared along with her mother Saturday, police said.

Police late Saturday said they were searching for the baby, Josephine Cook, and
her mother, Christine Cook, 40, who has possible mental health issues.

Cook took the baby from the family home at 111 Hanover St. without
explanation and police said they’re concerned, although she is not being
sought for any crime. The baby lives with both parents, who are married.

Part of the concern is because Cook has commented that
she wishes she never had the child. They didn’t go into detail, but
police described her as possibly aggressive.

Police launched the search after Cook’s husband reported he last saw his wife at 9 p.m.
Friday when she went to bed. He woke up to find her and the baby gone.

Cook is described as being about 5 feet 3 inches, 140 pounds, with a tattoo
of a cougar and panther on her back.

She was driving a red 2000 Dodge Caravan, license plate number 233-XWX, police said.

Police Sgt. Samuel Soukup said no family members know of her whereabouts and
her leaving doesn’t appear to have been planned.

Soukup said many background factors were considered and researched before putting out
the alert.

“We’re just making sure she’s OK,” Soukup said of Cook.

The baby weighs about 12 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

A silver alert, one step down from an amber alert, is
for a missing child under 15 years old or a person 65 years of age or older, police said.
