Tea'Karrous "TK" JACKSON - 6 yo (2010) - Houston TX
Tekerrious "TK" Jackson, a 6-year-old Houston boy, asked to spend the summer with his
father, a man who had not been around for much of his life.
That innocent wish, so full of hope and promise, cost the boy his life Sunday when he died
at Texas Children's Hospital after what police called an extended
eight-hour beating at his father's run-down, one-room apartment in the
4900 block of Polk.
On Monday, the boy's biological mother voiced her wish for the child's father to die.
"I want to see him suffer," Lucy Jackson Adams, 30, said of Alex McGowen Duncan, 34, known
as "Boomer," who remained in the Harris County Jail on a charge of
murder. "I want to see him die just the way my son died. I'm angry as hell."
Houston police say the boy was repeatedly punched in the chest after being forced to his
knees and ordered to extend his arms in the air in front of him when he
failed to go to sleep as his father instructed.
Whenever the boy lowered his arms,
he suffered a series of blows, which his father called "chest boxing,"
police said. The eight-hour beating followed two weeks of abuse the
child had suffered at his father's apartment, investigators said.
Adams said she never
would have let her son stay with his father had she known the boy would
be in danger. She said she never saw Duncan raise a hand toward her son.
She also said she felt a false sense of security because she thought her son was staying
with his paternal grandmother instead of Duncan's apartment.
Anger at witness
Standing outside the Houston Police Department on Monday, Adams also had harsh words for
Duncan's girlfriend, Tammyra Lanette Sampson, 30, who police said
witnessed the extensive beating, along with Sampson's 11-year-old daughter.
Sampson also is in the Harris County Jail, charged with injury to a child by omission,
accused of failing to promptly seek medical treatment for the injured
boy, court records show.
"That girlfriend — she was less of a woman," Adams said tearfully. "How you going to watch
something like that and condone that? You don't think he's not going to
turn around and do the same thing to your child?"
TK, who had just completed kindergarten at Stuchbery Elementary School in the Pasadena
Independent School District, had lived with his mother his entire life,
most recently in a house in the Sagemont subdivision of southeast Houston.
His parents never married, but when he asked to spend the summer with his father, Adams
saw no reason to object.
"He wanted to be with his daddy and to bond with him," she said.
Adams said she learned of her son's fate when Duncan called her at work at 4:25 a.m.
Sunday and told her they were at the hospital. She said Duncan claimed
the boy had massive seizures, had thrown up and had soiled himself. Only
when Adams arrived at the hospital, did she learn the truth.
Investigators said doctors found signs of severe trauma to the boy's body. Sampson's
daughter also spoke up.
"That woman's little girl told (the police) everything," Adams said.
The 11-year-old toldinvestigators that Duncan forced her to watch a series of beatings
inflicted on the boy and said she also witnessed the eight-hour ordeal
during the weekend. Sampson told police she once stopped Duncan so she
could show him how to properly discipline the little boy with a belt.
Criminal histories
Both Duncan and Sampson remained in the Harris County Jail late Monday, each held on
$50,000 bail. Duncan has requested a court-appointed lawyer to represent him.
Duncan has a lengthy criminal history in Harris County dating back to at least 1994. He has
convictions for drug possession, attempted possession of drugs, assault
of a family member, evading detention, failure to identify himself to a
police officer as a fugitive, resisting arrest and possession of
marijuana, court records show.
Sampson also has a lengthy criminal history in Harris County with arrests dating back to at
least 1997. Her record includes convictions for theft, illegal
redemption of food stamps and hindering apprehension.
Adams left the police department Monday with little more than tears and photos of her
dead son in happier days.
"I know vengeance is not mine — it's the Lord's," she said. "But I can't say I'd say the
same thing if (Duncan) was standing in front of me right now."

Re: Tea'Karrous "TK" JACKSON - 6 yo (2010) - Houston TX
Autopsy results revealed Wednesday that a 6-year-old boy beaten for hours died from
multiple blunt force trauma, with one Houston Police Department homicide
investigator comparing the child's injuries to those seen in victims of
fatal car crashes.
Tea'Karrous "T.K." Jackson was bruised from head to toe — even on the bottoms of his feet -
after enduring an eight-hour discipline session at his father's
one-room apartment in Houston's East End, said HPD Sgt. Brian Harris.
"It's not going to be any one thing that caused his death," Harris said Wednesday. "It's a
series of various injuries. It's as if someone would have been in a massive car accident."
The autopsy found that the boy suffered an injured kidney, fractured ribs, damage to his
stomach and a hematoma on his head, Harris said. The child also had
marks on his back and buttocks that were consistent with being hit with a belt, Harris said.
After the beating, which police said began when Jackson didn't fall asleep as his father
instructed, the boy was taken to Texas Children's Hospital, where he died at 4:05 a.m. Sunday.
Police found vomit and the child's soiled clothing inside his father's rundown apartment at
4948 Polk near Dumble, just east of downtown Houston.
Not capital murder
The child's father, Alex McGowen Duncan, 34, is charged with murder and remains in the
Harris County Jail with his bond set at $50,000. Prosecutors could not
charge him with capital murder, which would make him eligible for the
death penalty, because T.K. was 6½ years old, Harris said.
According to law, suspects accused of killing a child can only be charged with capital
murder if the victim is 6 years old or younger.
Also jailed in connection with the boy's death is Tammyra Lanette Sampson, 30, who is
charged with injury to a child by omission because she is accused of
failing to get medical help for the boy. She is also accused of
participating in the abuse by hitting the boy with a belt, Harris said.
Sampson remains in jail with her bond set at $50,000.
In an interview with Texas Child Protective Services, Sampson told the agency she had just
moved in with Duncan, her boyfriend of three years, according to CPS
spokeswoman Estella Olguin. Two of her children who were living in the
home, girls ages 11 and 6, were placed in the care of relatives by CPS .
Charges may change
CPS has no history of investigating Duncan or the slain boy's birth mother, who lived in a
separate residence.
In 2003, a report of physical abuse involving one of Sampson's children -- a 4-year-old boy
-- was made. CPS investigators found no evidence the boy was abused and
the case was closed, Olguin said. The boy has not been located, she said.
The charges against Duncan and Sampson -- who each have lengthy criminal histories -- may be
reconsidered at some point, Harris said. Sampson could be charged with
injury to a child, or both suspects could be charged with felony murder.
T.K. had always lived with his birth mother, but he asked to spend the summer with his
father, who had not been involved in much of the boy's life. His mother,
who has no criminal history, never married the boy's father.

Alex McGowen Duncan charged with murder of his son Tekerrious Jackson in Houston, Texas
Tuesday, 13 July 2010 11:29
Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the death of a boy at 4948 Polk #18 about 4:05 a.m. on Sunday (July 11).
The victim’s father, Alex McGowen Duncan (b/m, DOB: 7-19-75), also known as "Boomer," is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court. Tammyra Lanette Sampson (b/f, DOB: 12-4-79) is charged with injury to a child by omission in the 230th State District Court.
The victim, Tekerrious Jackson, 6, suffered severe bodily injury and was transported to Texas Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants B. Harris and J. Roberts reported:
The victim, Tekerrious, also known as “T.K.,” was taken by ambulance to the hospital after it appeared he had suffered a seizure. Once there, attending physicians noted severe trauma to Jackson's body.
The suspect, Duncan, was recently reunited with his son. Saturday night (July 10), about 7 p.m., Duncan put T.K. to bed but became upset when the boy would not go to sleep. For the next eight hours, T.K. was made to kneel with his arms extended in front of him. Duncan told investigators whenever T.K. lowered his arms he would receive a series of blows as part of what Duncan described as "chest boxing." Duncan described this as a flurry of punches to the chest and other parts of the body.
An 11-year-old girl (no relation to either Duncan or T.K.) told investigators for several days Duncan forced her to watch the series of beatings. The girl's mother, Sampson, also described witnessing Saturday night's beating as well as a series of beatings for the past several days. Sampson further told investigators she once stopped Duncan so she could show him how to properly discipline a child with a belt.
