Oviedo police have launched an investigation into the death of a 3-year-old girl who died this weekend.The child was rushed to South Seminole Hospital Saturday by her parents after they reportedly found her unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Hospital staff pronounced the girl dead on arrival, police said.The Volusia Medical Examiner is scheduled to perform an autopsy on the child to determine a cause of death.Police did not release the child's name.

Oviedo police arrested two people late Monday in connection to the death of a 3-year-old girl this weekend.

The child's mother, Crystal Aday, 26, and the mother's boyfriend, Isaac J. Burt, 45, were arrested and charged with child abuse with great bodily harm. Aday is being held on $4,000 bond at the Seminole County jail. Burt has since bonded out of the jail.

A medical examiner found the child died from asphyxiation and also suffered from a "severe case of child abuse."

Investigators did not release the girl's name pending notification of the child's father, who does not live in the area, officials said.

Police said Aday and Burt arrived at the South Seminole Hospital on Saturday evening with the child, claiming they found her unconscious on the bathroom floor. Doctors pronounced the girl dead on arrival.

During a medical exam, doctors found injuries that appeared to be related to child abuse and contacted police.

On Tuesday, detectives executed a search warrant at Aday's home and found evidence that indicated signs of abuse, police said.

The girl's younger sibling, who is the biological child of Aday and Burt, has been placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

Oviedo police plan to release more information at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.

This is horrible!!! They killed (read: MURDERED) a helpless baby - and had been abusing her. Why any bail at all? And what kind of "signs at the home" could they have found that indicated prolonged abuse? That is scary.

UPDATE: Just read the OS story from post above "Aday is being held on $50,000 bail at the Seminole County jail on a count of child abuse with great bodily harm. That charge could be upgraded to murder charges later, police said.

Aday's live-in boyfriend, Isaac J. Burt, who is the father of her 4-month-old baby, was jailed on the same charge, but bonded out of jail early Wednesday. The younger child was taken away and is being cared for by the Department of Children and Families.

During a court appearance today, Aday's attorney, David Faulkner, said Aday was jobless and Burt, 45, was supporting her. Seminole County Judge Jerri Collins said she set the unusually high bond, in part because Aday appears to have no stable ties to the community." That is more reasonable.

Memorial honors short life of Oviedo girl

KISSIMMEE — In all the pictures laid out on two tables, Faith Jackson wore a beaming smile.

The images of the twinkly eyed 3-year-old girl brought family and friends to tears at a memorial service Saturday.

More than 30 people gathered at Rock Church to celebrate the Oviedo girl's life.

Faith's lifeless body was taken Nov. 6 to South Seminole Hospital by her mother, who along with her boyfriend has been charged with child abuse with great bodily harm. The child's body was riddled with bruises, scars and burns, an autopsy found.

The autopsy found Faith died of asphyxiation. Her mother, Crystal Aday, 26, and the woman's live-in boyfriend, Isaac J. Burt, 45, were released on bail in the days following Faith's death, though authorities say more-severe charges could be filed as the investigation progresses.

At Saturday's service, Faith's toys were laid out on the floor next to her pictures and included a pink caterpillar, a Little Mermaid beach ball and a Stitch stuffed animal from the Disney film "Lilo & Stitch."

In one picture, Faith is seen wearing oversized headphones and appears to be dancing.

Her father, Joseph F. Jackson, picked up a picture of the girl and kissed it. He pressed his lips against the glass and cried while family and friends held him.

"It's a time for the family to grieve," said Reese Monroe, a friend who spoke on behalf of the family. The Jacksons declined to make comment. In a program handed out at the service, the family wrote "may your life be forever inspired by our Little Angel."

Although she has been released from the Seminole County jail on $50,000 bail, Aday was not at the child's memorial, said friends of the Jackson family.

Oviedo police arrested Aday and Burt on Monday, Lt. Mike Beavers said. Burt was released on bail Wednesday and Aday made bail on Friday, Beavers said.

The couple have a 4-month-old baby, who is in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families.

Aday had told police she put Faith down for a nap about 12:30 p.m. Nov. 6, and five hours later found her unconscious and unresponsive on the bathroom floor in their Oviedo home, Beavers said.

The couple drove the child to South Seminole Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Doctors suspected the girl had been dead for two to four hours. They alerted the authorities, Beavers said.

The Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office conducted the autopsy and found severe bruises, scars and burns all over Faith's body, Beavers said.

"During the examination, they found bruising and injuries consistent to child abuse," Beavers said.

The case remains under investigation and Beavers said Saturday the charges could be upgraded.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement records show Aday has been arrested twice in Florida on prostitution charges in Seminole and Osceola counties. A Kissimmee police report shows Aday was arrested after undercover detectives found her listed on Craigslist and arranged to have her meet them for sex.

Records show Burt has been arrested on traffic charges.

Faith is gone!


On, November 6^th the dynamic duo above, Crystal Aday (26) and
her live-in boyfriend Isaac Burt (46) arrived at South Seminole
Hospital, with Aday’s, 3-year-old lifeless, daughter Faith Jackson.
Their story was much like many others we see here, they put Faith down
for a nap around 12:30 and about 5 hours later found her unconscious and
unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Instead of calling 911, they opted
to drive her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead on
arrival. The doctors suspect she was dead 2 to 4 hours before she was
brought to the hospital. UGH! This makes me sick. Must have taken the
2 to 4 hours to come up with the story, I mean since it was so creative
and all.

Anyhow, the Volusia County Medical Examiner determined Faith had died
of asphyxiation and suffered from a “severe case of child abuse.”
Faith had several injuries, including severe bruising, scars and burns
that all appeared to be in various stages of healing. Why, do people do
these things to children? Please someone enlighten me as to what a
3-year-old little girl could possibly do to deserve to be treated so
badly. As I type this I can only see the face of my own 3-year-old baby
girl and though she can try my patience, effortlessly, I could NEVER
imagine her ever angering me enough to beat her to death, let
alone allowing anyone else to harm her. These are two cowardly assholes
and I hope they go out of this world the way Faith did.
Also residing in the residence was the 4-month-old son the two shared
and surprisingly enough he showed no signs of abuse. Wow, the child
that belonged to both them is loved and cared for properly, nonetheless
the baby was removed from the home by DCFS. Aday and Burt were arrested
and charged with child abuse with great bodily harm. Burt bonded out
and Aday rested her butt in jail on a $50,000 bond.
On November 30^th, Burt was arrested again and this time
the charge is first-degree murder. Aday’s charges have been upgraded to
accessory after the fact. The two were taken into custody while
attending a custody hearing regarding their son. Don’t you just love
it? Here they are fighting for the return of the son they loved and are
rearrested for the death of the daughter they didn’t. How ironic.
According to police they were able to determine, “based on the
timeline of events, the medical examiner’s report and other evidence,”
that Burt was responsible for the death of Faith and Aday helped to
cover it up. Aday went so far as to tell police she was the only person
to discipline her daughter. So here we have it yet again, a woman more
concerned with the love of her man (if you want to call him that) than
the love of her own flesh and blood. Sick!
If Aday posts bond, she is not allowed to go back to the home they
share. Her bond has been set so high due to the fact that she has only
lived in Florida 2 years, has no job, no family in the state, lost
custody of her son and can not communicate with Burt. She is considered a
flight risk. Hell yeah she is and I would wager a bet if she was
released she’d be gone.

One Of Casey's Attorneys Takes On Another High-Profile Case

OVIEDO, Fla. -- The legendary local attorney who took on Casey Anthony's case is now taking on a second high-profile death penalty case. J. Cheney Mason is now defending Isaac Burt, who's accused of killing his girlfriend's toddler in Oviedo.

Mason has represented the accused for 40 years and now, as if the national spotlight on the Casey Anthony trial weren't enough, he's taken on another high profile, high stakes case, the Oviedo man accused of murdering his girlfriend's daughter, 3-year-old Faith Jackson, in November.

"An attorney of Cheney Mason's caliber can easily handle these types of cases, and represent multiple defendants charged with murder," WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said.

Mason told WFTV on Thursday he took the case after being recommended by attorneys for Burt's family in Mississippi, and because he's convinced of the man's innocence.

Oviedo police say they have video proving Jackson's mother, Crystal Aday, was out of the house when her daughter died of asphyxiation, leaving only Burt home with her.

Mason plans to challenge that timeline and Sheaffer believes neither the Anthony case nor Burt's will suffer for his heavy workload.

"The courts will adjust the rhythm to accommodate Mr. Mason's representation of multiple individuals charged with very serious crimes," Sheaffer said.

Burt needed a new attorney after his public defender withdrew, citing the defendant's $5,000 a month income; it's an income too high for taxpayers to continue covering his legal bills.That money comes from Burt's military retirement benefits.Mason insists he is not working the case pro bono, but would not say whether Burt or someone else is paying the bill.
