Police arrested a man in question for abusing a baby Friday
afternoon.
Authorities found 37-year-old Jason Coffee at a home
on Indy’s west side. When Indianapolis Metro Police Department arrived on the scene, Riley Sweaton’s mom answered the door with the baby
in her arms. According to police, the baby had large scabs and
blood on his nose and possible burn marks behind his ears. Sweaton
is being treated at Riley Hospital for Children. Child Protective
Services are investigating the case.

A 37-year-old man was arrested Friday on preliminary charges of
battery after police discovered a bloody, scabbed and burned 7-month-old
boy in his mother's arms at a Southwest side home.Jason L. Coffey, Indianapolis, was preliminarily
charged with one county of felony battery, according to a report by the
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Police discovered the boy's injuries about 1:30 a.m. at a home in the
4500 block of Farnsworth Street. Officers said that Riley Sweaton had a
large scab and blood on his nose, cuts and bruises on his face and
apparent burns behind his ears.Riley's left leg and right arm also were swollen.The boy's mother,
Briana White, 20, was holding him in her arms when police came to
investigate. Coffey lived at the house, but his relationship to the
mother and son was unknown.Riley was taken to Riley Hospital for Children for
treatment. State child welfare workers were called to the home, where a
5-year-old boy also lived.
