CEZAR TAYLOR - 6 Months - Mangere E/Auckland (NE of AP) New Zealand
Tom, remove this or move it if you don't want it here. It's another case of a mothers boyfriend so it's relevant to what we want to bring awareness to. He'd better hope I don't run into him before the police find him.

Police are hunting James Allan Hemana in relation to serious head
injuries suffered by six-month-old Cezar Taylor
Police are hunting a man in relation to an alleged assault on a baby boy who is in hospital with severe head injuries.
In a press conference this afternoon, Detective Senior Sergeant Richard
Wilkie said six-month-old Cezar Taylor was admitted to Auckland's
Starship Hospital on Friday with "severe head injuries, and remains
there in a serious but stable condition".
Police are looking for 30-year-old James Allan Hemana, also known as
James Sylva, who has contacts in the Whangarei, Wellsford and Waikato
areas. Hemana is also wanted on unrelated dishonesty charges in the
Whangarei District Court, Mr Wilkie said.
Mr Wilkie said Hemana was in a relationship with the boy's mother
Medical staff say Cezar shows signs of having been shaken and hit in the head with a blunt object.
"They are very, very serious injuries," said Mr Wilkie. "We are thankful he has now stabilized,
but he is critical." Police believe the alleged assault happened at the Mangere East home of Cezar and his mother.
Neighbors heard raised voices on Friday before Cezar was taken to
Middlemore Hospital then transferred to Starship, said Mr Wilkie.
The Taylor whanau (def: extended family) were being very helpful and cooperating with police, said Mr Wilkie.
Police media staff then cut the press conference short and did not accept further questions.

Re: CEZAR TAYLOR - 6 Months - Mangere E/Auckland (NE of AP) New Zealand
Police have found a man wanted in connection with non-accidental injuries inflicted on a 6-month-old child.
Thirty-year-old James Allan Hemana, also known as James Sylva, had been
missing since his girlfriend's baby, Cezar Taylor, was taken to hospital
with severe head injuries on Friday morning.
Constable Clare Jackson said Hemana had been found at a Te Awamutu home
after police executed search warrants in the Waikato town early this
morning.
"Cezar's family have been advised that Hemana has been found and are thankful to the police and public," Ms Jackson said.
She said police were also speaking to three women from the Te Awamutu address.
Detective Sergeant Richard Wilkie told Radio New Zealand Hemana had been arrested on previous warrants. Herald
inquiries earlier found Hemana had two outstanding warrants for his
arrest, which included two charges in the Whangarei District Court
- one of burglary and a charge of failing to answer bail.
Wilkie yesterday reported that Hemana had only been with Cezar's
mother for about two months and the couple were living together in
Mangere East where the baby's injuries are believed to have occurred.
The injuries were consistent with "shaking and blunt force trauma, which
is a blow to the head" and appeared to have happened over a period of
time. It was not yet known whether a weapon was used.
Cezar was initially taken to Middlemore Hospital before being
transferred to Starship where he remained in a critical condition this
morning, supported by extended family.
A man, who did not want to be named, said police spent about two hours
outside a house on Oruawharo Rd, northwest of Wellsford, on Monday
night, calling Hemana's name over a speaker.
A helicopter circled above the property and a police dog was used, said
the man, who went to primary school with Hemana.
"They were yelling out for him to come out ... they said they were the
Auckland Armed Offenders Squad and the house was surrounded.
"I saw about five vehicles parked up the road, there was a roadblock set up the road with a couple of police cars."
Wilkie said Hemana, who had a number of relatives living in
Wellsford, had been at the address previously. Officers had been in
Wellsford over the past two days speaking with family, including his
mother.
Hemana also had associates in Whangarei and the Waikato. Cezar's mother had been "very helpful".
Police had conducted an extensive scene examination of the house where
Cezar lived and also interviewed other family members and neighbors who
described hearing raised voices before he was taken to hospital.
* Anyone with information is being urged to call (09) 261-1300 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

Re: CEZAR TAYLOR - 6 Months - Mangere E/Auckland (NE of AP) New Zealand
The man who evaded police after allegedly assaulting his
girlfriend's six-month-old baby has been captured.
Police have James Hemana in custody as Cezar Taylor remained in
a critical condition in Auckland's Starship Hospital, five days
after his mother took him to hospital.
Hemana was found this morning in Te Awamutu after armed police
surrounded a house and found the 30-year-old inside.
Late this afternoon, he appeared in the Te Awamutu District
Court on three charges, including assaulting a child.
Police said Cezar Taylor was shaken and hit in the head,
suffering life threatening injuries at a house in Mangere. They had
been hunting Hemana in connection with the assault.
Neighbours said police had been combing the scene for the last
couple of days and although the cordon had been lifted at the
Mangere property, detectives were still in the neighbourhood
searching for witnesses.
Police said Cezar's family had been helpful and
co-operative.
They had recently visited several South Auckland welfare
groups."The family, as I understand, have been asking for help and have
been working with a number of agencies to do with budgeting and
childcare, seeking support," Peter Sykes from the Mangere East
Family Service Centre said.
Hemana has been remanded in custody but Cezar is still in a
critical condition with his mother and family at his bedside.

Baby dies as police lay charges against mother's partner
4:00 AM Thursday Jul 29, 2010
A baby hospitalised with severe head injuries after an alleged assault has died.
Cezar Taylor, aged 6 months, from Mangere East, is understood to have
died surrounded by his family in Auckland's Starship Hospital last
night.
The partner of the child's mother, James Allan Hemana, 30, also known as James Sylva, has been charged with assaulting the baby.
Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Wilkie said last night the inquiry
would "change from an investigation about a baby that has suffered
serious injuries to something more serious".
Hemana was found at a house in Kihikihi, near Te Awamutu, early yesterday.
He appeared in Te Awamutu District Court yesterday, charged with
assaulting Cezar Taylor. He also faced two charges of failing to appear
in Whangarei District Court on an unrelated matter. Hemana, who did not enter a plea, was remanded in custody to appear in Manukau District Court on July 30.

Poor little bloke never had a chance to blow out a birthday candle.
WTH is wrong with people...the world over...and their stupidity and/or negligence and/or deviancy in dealing with the kids....
It's almost as though they forgot that they too were once children.

Re: CEZAR TAYLOR - 6 Months - Mangere E/Auckland (NE of AP) New Zealand
CYF spoke to Cezar's mother
The mother of Cezar Taylor had been spoken to by Child, Youth and
Family shortly before the six-month-old died from non-accidental head
injuries.
A new social worker was assigned to her early this month after she moved
to Auckland - but there was no follow-up before Cezar was admitted to
Starship hospital a week ago with serious head injuries.
He died on Wednesday night from the injuries that were consistent with shaking and a blow to the head.
CYF head Ray Smith said the agency had been involved with the family "a
number of times" in recent years. "Tragically, Cezar was admitted to
hospital before the next meeting was held," Mr Smith said.
The partner of the boys' mother, James Allan Hemana, 30, has been
charged with assaulting Cezar and will appear in the Manukau District
Court today.
Hemana was living with Cezar's mother and the child in Mangere East when
the injuries occurred. The couple had been together a couple of months. "It
is extremely distressing that a baby has now died as a result of such
callous abuse. We are working with the police to assist them in any way
possible to get to the bottom of who is accountable for inflicting these
terrible injuries," Mr Smith said.
CYF would not say how they became involved with the family.
Cezar's two siblings, who are pre-schoolers, were with family members and not their mother when Cezar was fatally injured.
Mr Smith promised CYF would work with the police to help get to the
bottom of who was accountable for Cezar's "terrible injuries".
The Office of the Chief Social Worker will conduct a review of CYF
involvement of the case. Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Wilkie said
Cezar's body would be released to his family today after the completion
of a post-mortem examination.
