SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- A Phoenix mother was arrested Thursday after allegedly leaving her two young sons in a hot car while she interviewed for a job.
Shanesha Shaine Taylor, 35, faces two counts of child abuse, a class four felony.
Scottsdale police received a call about 12:30 p.m. from a woman who heard a child crying inside an SUV in an office complex parking lot near the Loop 101 and Shea Boulevard.
Scottsdale police officers and firefighters found two boys, a 6-month-old and 2-year-old, buckled in car seats inside a parked SUV.
According to court documents, the temperature outside was about 82 degrees and the temperature inside the car exceeded 100 degrees.
It is estimated the children were in the vehicle for at least 30 minutes.
The 6-month-old was wearing two T-shirts, one of which had long sleeves, and was covered with a blanket, according to court paperwork. He was crying hysterically.
Police said all four windows of the SUV had been rolled down about 1 inch.
Court documents say that officers entered the car through the unlocked driver's door and found the keys in the ignition. The engine was not running but the blower motor was pumping hot air into the SUV.
The children were transported to Scottsdsale Healthcare Shea Medical Center, and doctors determined they had no medical issues from the incident, according to court paperwork.
Taylor was arrested after returning to the car, which was about 45 minutes after police were called.
She reportedly told officers she did not have a baby sitter for her children and was hoping they would sleep during her interview since it was their nap time.
Child Protective Services took custody of the children.
Taylor's preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 31.

Arizona mother pleads not guilty for leaving kids in hot car

(Reuters) - An unemployed Arizona woman accused of leaving her two young children in a hot car while she went to a job interview pleaded not guilty to two felony child abuse charges on Monday, court officials said.
Shanesha Taylor, 35, made the plea during a brief arraignment in Maricopa County Superior Court in a case that has attracted nationwide attention and garnered her more than $91,000 in Internet donations.
Taylor was charged after police found her children, ages 2 and 6 months, in a parked car last month, sweating profusely and in apparent distress as she went to attend an interview for an insurance company job, according to court documents.
The children were found buckled into their seat belts in the vehicle's back seat with temperatures exceeding 100 Fahrenheit (38 Celsius), document stated.
Taylor's case made national news with the release of her jail mugshot, a heart-wrenching picture of the woman with tears in her eyes.
A New Jersey woman set up a website for donations once she learned of the March 20 incident, resulting in a steady flow of contributions.

Tearful Mom who Left Kids in Car During Job Interview Cuts Plea Deal
BY TOM WINTER
The Arizona mom who won national sympathy after she was arrested for leaving her kids in a hot car while she interviewed for a job will have her charges dropped if she completes a diversion program, according to her spokesman and Maricopa County prosecutors.
Shanesha Taylor, 35, was arrested in Scottsdale in March for leaving her two-year-old and six-month-old in her vehicle during a 45-minute job interview at an insurance office. Taylor, whose tearful booking photo inspired widespread support and more than $100,000 in donations, said she was unemployed and had no access to childcare. Temperatures in the car had allegedly topped 100 degrees before she returned.
According to a spokesman for Taylor, she will have to undergo 26 weeks of counseling and will need to set up a trust fund for the kids' college education. The spokesman said Taylor had already intended to use the donations for that purpose.
Prosecutor Bill Montgomery said that “based on the facts and circumstances in this matter, we believe this agreement represents a just resolution that appropriately holds the defendant accountable for her actions while also recognizing the best interests of her family.”
"The stipulations of this agreement also ensure that pledges of support from members of the public will have a meaningful and positive impact," added Montgomery.
Taylor will next try to regain custody of her children, said her spokesman. The children are currently in state custody.

A Teary Mugshot Got Her $114K Donation. Now Civil Rights Leader Slams Her For How She Spent It.
BY JUAN LEON (1 HOUR AGO)
Shanesha Taylor was arrested and charged for leaving her two sons in a hot car for 45 minutes while she went on a job interview. Her teary mugshot elicited the sympathy and donations of strangers to the tune of $114,000.
A civil rights activist, Rev. Jarrett Maupin, even got involved: Maupin helped broker a deal with prosecutors that would drop all charges against Taylor as long as she attended drug and parenting classes and put some of the donation money she received into a trust for her children.
He also lined up job interviews for the mother of two.
The jobless Taylor failed to show up to any interviews. As for the trust for her kids? It doesn’t look like Taylor will be living up to her end of the bargain on that front either.
Maupin told Fox6 News:
"The money is gone. It’s been spent. It’s been wasted on designer clothes, Michael Kors. We want to see the bank statements because we see her in designer jeans, and we understand that she paid for studio time for her baby daddy’s rap career. I am flabbergasted by that."
Taylor’s now experiencing the consequences of her actions — Her private lawyers have quit, supporters are asking for their money back, and prosecutors are now pursuing the charges they initially dropped.
