Miami-Dade ---- A toddler has died after allegedly being punched repeatedly by his father.
Police have arrested the father of a toddler found injured at a South Florida home Monday night.Lee
De Jesus, 24, faces charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect. "All
I'm doing is praying, believe that. All I'm doing is praying," said
Maria De Jesus, the child's grandmother and the mother of the accused.
"If he did, then he has to deal with his consequences."De Jesus
allegedly told Miami-Dade Police that he left his 2-year-old son Willie
Brown with a babysitter, but when he arrived to the apartment he found
the child alone.De Jesus then allegedly said he decided to teach
the child how to box, and, police said, he struck the child 15 times,
causing the child to hit the wall and fall to the floor. The toddler
then started to have seizures. Police said De Jesus failed to
call 911 for half hour and placed the child in bed, and the child turned
blue. That is when he decided to call 911. The boy's mother was working
at the time. The incident occurred around midnight inside
Apartment 7, on the second floor of 316 SW 4th Ave. Rescue crews had to
airlift the boy to Miami Children's Hospital.According to
sources, Brown suffered serious head injuries and has no brain activity.
Miami-Dade Police spokesperson Roy Rutland said, "Investigators had a
chance to talk to doctors at the hospital and determined that the child
suffered from severe hematoma as well as some other injuries to his
head."One grandmother of the child had said earlier she believed
the boy's father had something to do with the child's injuries. "As far
as I know, he has messed with my daughter," said the unidentified woman,
noting that De Jesus has been violent with her daughter in the past. De
Jesus' mother said that the couple has had a turbulent relationship.
"I've told them plenty of times that if they can't make it, then they
need to separate," she said. According to a neighbor, there has
been commotion at the apartment once or twice a week. "I come home and I
hear screaming and yelling," said Selvino Arrguin, speaking through a
translator. "You could hear a lot of yelling coming from inside the
house, and you could hear it on the outside."Now that the toddler has died,
De Jesus' charges will be upgraded. The Department of Children and Family has
reported that they have seen the the child before and that he is in their system.

A Miami-Dade man remains behind bars after police say he his two year old son repeatedly while wearing boxing gloves.
Lee Willie DeJesus, 23, was charged one count of aggravated child abuse
and one count of child neglect after his 2-year-old son, Willy Jones,
was airlifted to Miami Children's Hospital with severe head injuries
Monday; the boy succumbed to his injuries Tuesday afternoon. Charges
against DeJesus will likely be upgraded with the boy's death.
"Just starting to enjoy his little life, but unfortunately he's gone,"
said the boy's aunt, Raquel DeJesus, "and we wont' have the chance to
see him grow anymore, but you know, that's how life is."
DeJesus says she doesn't understand what could've caused her brother to go off on his child the way police say he did.
According to Miami-Dade Police, Homestead Police responded to the
2-year-old's house just after 10:30 p.m. Monday night. Police said
DeJesus had called police after he had returned home and found the
2-year-old unresponsive on the bed.
DeJesus said his 2-year-old son had bruising on its body and that the
child must have been beaten by an unidentified babysitter that was hired
by the child's biological mother, according to Miami-Dade Police.
The child was taken to the hospital and had surgery for a subdural hematoma and a subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Police then took DeJesus to the Homicide Bureau Office where he admitted
under questioning that he lied about a babysitter being with the
victim, police said. Instead, DeJesus said he was watching the boy while
the mother worked.
Police said DeJesus told them he was teaching his son to box. DeJesus
allegedly put on 16 oz. boxing gloves and punched the the child fifteen
times in the face, head, torso, and shoulders.
Police said the boxing lasted approximately 15 minutes and DeJesus
reportedly told detectives the child hit his head on the bedroom wall
and the tile floor after he was knocked off the bed where the two were
boxing.
Miami-Dade Police said DeJesus saw the child become unresponsive and saw
the child might be having a seizure. Police said DeJesus didn't call
for medical help for between 30 minutes to 1 hour and only called 911
after the child's lips became blue.
DeJesus's mother, Maria, didn't know all the circumstance but called the news, "a nightmare."
"He (Lee) might be capable of beating her, because they always go at it,
but then she goes right back to him," Maria DeJesus said. "He knows
what time it is. He knows he gotta deal, suffer with the consequences
now."

The sister of a Homestead dad charged in the death of
his toddler son during a boxing lesson is criticizing her brother who
she says has an uncontrollable temper.
"I know my brother,(when) he gets mad, he gets mad,” Rachel DeJesus,
sister of Lee Willie DeJesus, said hours after the man was charged
in the death of his 2-year-old son. “But you can't stop him. That's what I think."
Lee DeJesus, 23, remains behind bars after a judge denied him bond Wednesday.
Police say he confessed to boxing with the toddler, punching him in the
head and face until the boy fell and hit his head Monday night. DeJesus
was taken into custody from his apartment without incident.
At first, police say he told them a babysitter had been there and that he'd found the unconscious
child later. But once DeJesus started cooperating with police, they say he confessed.
An arrest report says he was teaching the victim to box with 16-ounce
gloves, that he punched the boy about 15 times to his face, head, torso
and shoulders over the course of about 15 minutes.
Police also say DeJesus admitted to not calling 911 for 30 to 60 minutes, until the toddler's lips turned blue.
The young boy was airlifted to Miami Children's Hospital, where he is brain dead and on life support.
DeJesus was originally charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect, but during
Wednesday's hearing, the charges were bumped up to second-degree murder.
“At this time, I do find that there is probable cause for non-bondable
offense of felony murder and/or second degree murder,” said Miami-Dade Criminal Judge Roberto Pineiro.
The judge had been asked to let DeJesus out on bond because his son had
not technically died at that point. But the argument fell short.
"The child is brain dead,” asked the judge rhetorically to a Miami-Dade police detective in court.
"Yes, he was declared brain dead by a neurosurgeon,” the officer replied.
"Alright,” the judge declared. “That being the case, no bond."
The family says it will donate the organs of the toddler after he's pulled off life support.
Rachel DeJesus said her family is devastated by the tragedy.
"I just hope he thinks about what he did," she said about her brother. "I think about my kids and
when that happened yesterday, I looked at my little boy and, God,
they're the same age. And they always play together. I don't know what
to say after that, I was just, like, crying."

Re: WILLIE BROWN - 2 yo (2010) - Miami-Dade FL
The 2-year-old boy whose father is accused of beating him into a
coma with boxing gloves has died, and prosecutors plan to charge the
father with murder. Willie Brown was taken off life support at
12:59 p.m. Thursday, said Ed Griffith, spokesman for the Miami-Dade
State Attorney's Office. Willie had been brain dead since
Monday, when his father, Lee Willie DeJesus, allegedly punched him up to
15 times in the face, head, torso and shoulders.
According to a Miami-Dade police report, the tot was on a bed
when DeJesus, 23, punched him repeatedly inside a Homestead apartment. DeJesus originally blamed the attack on a baby-sitter, telling police
he came home and found his son unresponsive on the bed. After more
questioning, he admitted to dealing blows to the boy with 16-ounce
boxing gloves, police said. DeJesus is being held at a Miami-Dade County jail on charges of aggravated child abuse and child neglect. Griffith said the state attorney's office would file second-degree
murder charges against DeJesus Monday, and later will seek a
first-degree murder indictment. The office had been waiting for Willie
to be taken off life support before upgrading the charges.
They were keeping him on life support because the parents had agreed
to use some of the organs for transplants,'' Griffith said.
During the 15-minute beating, the toddler was knocked off the bed and
hit his head against the bedroom wall and tile floor, according to the
report. After the tot became unresponsive, DeJesus didn't call
911 for at least 30 minutes, police said. Willie underwent surgery at
Miami Children's Hospital, but was pronounced brain dead and put on life
support. Eventually, Griffith said, the charges against
DeJesus will be upgraded to first-degree murder. Only a grand jury can
issue an indictment for first-degree murder, and the Miami-Dade grand
jury is out of session for the next few weeks, he said.

Re: WILLIE BROWN - 2 yo (2010) - Miami-Dade FL
WTH is wrong with these people. Why did the mother leave him alone with the baby?
I hope he has been in jail long enough to get a few punches himself. Even an idiot would know better than to do what he did. He lost his temper and beat the baby, IMO. You don't give boxing lessons to a two year old. I hope he is in gen pop and gets the shit beat out of him daily. Sorry for being mean hearted but this man deserves to be punished harshly. He needs to know what he put this little baby through.
He's the type who will whine and cry at the first sign on pain on his own sorry butt.
