Missing Jerome Co. family found dead in submerged vehicle
Posted: Monday, August 23, 2010 1:00 pm
A Jerome County woman and her two children were found dead in a
vehicle submerged in a canal north of Jerome today.
Alisha Hepworth and her children, John Hepworth, 7, and Mahailla
Hepworth, 3, were in the white 1996 Chevrolet Lumina that was found
near 300 N. 100 E., north of Jerome, according to Jerome County
Sheriff Doug McFall.
Hepworth and her children had been missing since Wednesday, when
a friend reported that they did not arrive at the Gooding County
Fair as planned.
McFall said that Hepworth apparently hit a road sign for unknown
reasons before her vehicle struck a guard rail and entered the
canal along 300 North Road.
The current of the canal apparently carried the vehicle under a
bridge that spanned the canal, where it came to rest, McFall
said.
A nearby resident noticed that the road sign was missing, and
after calling area highway district officials, he noticed the
vehicle's antenna sticking out of the canal water, in between some
weeds.
At about 8:30 a.m., sheriff's and search and rescue officials
from Jerome and Twin Falls counties began investigating the scene,
while North Side Canal Company closed a head gate to lower the
water level in the area of the accident, McFall said.
Many law-enforcement officials responded to the area of the
accident and have closed off 300 North Road in the area.
Idaho State Police is handling the investigation of the
crash.

Good Lord~ at first I thought it was another case like that one with the Duley children.
However, there may be some mitigating circumstances so this is a good topic for this story... until the autopsies are in and COD is confirmed.

I did too Tom. Didn't really know where to put it. Sounds like an accident but I hoped it was ok to put it here until they finish investigating.TomTerrific0420 wrote:Good Lord~ at first I thought it was another case like that one with the Duley children.
