Casey Anthony status hearing live on In Session
Posted: 09:15 AM ET
Orlando, FL – This status hearing at the end of a hot Florida summer has nothing specific on the docket to be argued, but saying that, one of the exciting things about court hearings is that you never know what attorneys may want to put on the record.
We have been told Casey Anthony will not be in attendance at this status check.
We also know that Magistrate Jim Glatt has been appointed to oversee the defense’s access to volunteer records from Texas Equusearch. As per Judge Perry’s order, a date and time must be established for the production of these documents. They currently are housed in the law offices of Mark NeJame, who represents the private search group.
Since the last status hearing, George and Cindy Anthony have obtained new legal counsel. Attorney Brad Conway stepped down after the defense filed a motion saying that Conway viewed those TES volunteer records before the defense had an opportunity to so and that Conway wasn’t even a party to the current criminal action. Conway says he was invited by attorney NeJame to go over those records out of compassion for grandparents George and Cindy Anthony. NeJame told Conway that if he saw anything of interest to tell the Anthonys.
Conway has told In Session he did nothing wrong, but felt it was best to step down so the relevant issues could be focused on in this death penalty case.
With Conway out, the Anthonys have now hired new counsel. Mark Lippman and Jennifer Craddock, with the Lippman Law Offices of Orlando, have taken over the job of representing George and Cindy Anthony’s best interests. Lippman, a former prosecutor, represented the Anthonys in their home foreclosure issues earlier this year.
