MAXIMUS LAGORIO - 19 Days -(2010) Lodi (N of Stockton) CA
Police arrested a man Wednesday suspected of shaking his son to
death seven days earlier in Lodi. On Aug. 26, Lodi police officers
responded to the 300 block of South Orange Street at about 7:10
a.m. to find an infant who had died, Dt. Hettie Schaeffer wrote in
a news release.
Investigators discovered the baby had suffered non-accidental
trauma, which could have been from shaking, she said.
The police arrested the baby’s father, Brandon Langorio, 19, on
Wednesday, after finding additional evidence that linked the father
to the death.
He was booked into the Lodi jail on one count of murder and one
count of felony child abuse resulting in the death of a child less
than 8 years old, Schaeffer said."While this case was difficult
for detectives to investigate due
to the nature of the crime, and the very young age of the infant;
the Lodi Police Department was relieved that resolve was brought to
the family of the young victim," Schaeffer wrote in the news
release. The baby boy was named Maximus Langorio and was 19 days old,
according to a News-Sentinel obituary that ran Aug. 31. He was born
in Modesto to Langorio and Kirsten Knudson, of Lodi.
Services will be held on 3 p.m. Friday in the Garden of Gospels
at Cherokee Memorial Park at Highway 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi.
Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

STOCKTON - A 19-year-old Lodi man has been ordered to stand trial in the death of his infant son last year, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
Brandon Cole Lagorio is charged with the willful killing of child under age 8 in the death of his 19-day-old son, Maximus Cole Lagorio.
San Joaquin County Supervising Deputy District Attorney Kristine Reed said that after a one-day preliminary hearing on Monday, Superior Court Judge Bob McNatt ordered Lagorio to stand trial before a jury.
Reed said the official cause of death was nonaccidental trauma in a child. The baby suffered broken ribs and had a swollen brain from the trauma suffered Aug. 26 at home in the 300 block of South Orange Street in Lodi, Reed said.
Lagorio remains in custody at the San Joaquin County Jail. He awaits arraignment on May 19.
