L'ASTER KANABUS - 10 Months - New Lisbon (E of La Crosse) WI/MO alerted

The Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children and Adults is assisting the New Lisbon Police Department in the search for L Aster Kanabus. L Aster Kanabus was last seen Wednesday morning, wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt. It is believed that the child may be in the company of Daniel H. Kanabus.


Daniel was last seen wearing torn womens blue jeans and a red shirt. Daniel is a known cross-dresser and wears long black wigs. He has a tattoo on his right wrist that is a purple moon with a nail through it. Daniel and L Aster could be in route to Thayer, Missouri. L Aster is 10 months old, a white male, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He's 2 feet tall and 20 pounds. Juneau County sheriff's officials say a baby taken from New Lisbon has been found in Missouri.

The Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children said the disappearance of 10-month-old L. Aster Kanabus was a family abduction.

Police say the child was believed to be in the company of his 19-year-old father, who has been known to cross dress. Investigators suspected the father was headed for Thayer, Missouri.

A felony charge of interfering with a child's custody was filedin Juneau County Circuit Court Wednesday against a 19-year-oldMissouri man who took his 10-month-old son away from his custodialmother. Daniel Kanabus was arrested Thursday in Missouri, where he fledafter taking L. Aster Kanabus from Jasmine Williams, the boy'smother, during a pre-arranged visit the day before at the BunkhouseMotel in New Lisbon. The child was not harmed and was turned over to socialservices. New Lisbon Police Chief Brent Granger said Williams ate breakfaston the property while Daniel Kanabus visited with his son, thenwent back to check on her son and discovered the two haddisappeared. Authorities suspected the two were headed for Thayer, Mo., wherethe father lives. Granger said that is where he was arrested withthe help of local police. The abduction prompted a news release from the WisconsinClearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children and Adults, whichassisted New Lisbon police and the Juneau County Sheriff'sDepartment in the investigation.
