Smyrna police believe an abducted 15-year-old is still in the metro Atlanta area but they also fear he is in a great deal of danger.
Marco Antonio Gonzalez was listening to music in a Mercedes S500 when two young men abducted him during an apparent carjacking near the intersection of Glendale Place and Glendale Circle in Smyrna at about 9 p.m. Friday, police said.Another teen was in the car but he escaped.

"Marco Antonio Gonzalez is still missing and is believed to endangered," Smyrna police said in an updated alert sent to the media Saturday evening. "The Smyrna Police Department’s investigators also believe Marco Antonio Gonzalez is still in the metropolitan Atlanta area."Alerts appeared Saturday on signs over metro Atlanta interstates that included a description of the car; a 2002 gray Mercedes S500 with Georgia tag DC8N74.Gonzalez was wearing a red polo shirt, black shorts and a red and black Air Jordan shoes. He is five-feet-seven-inches tall and he weighs about 140 pounds.Those with information should call 911 or the Smyrna Police Department at 770-434-6666.

As the search for an abducted 15-year-old entered its third day, Smyrna police said they have gotten some tips but no good leads on his whereabouts.When reached by phone early Sunday morning, Smyrna police said Marco Antonio Gonzalez remains missing."We believe Mr. Gonzalez is endangered," Smyrna police Sgt. Lewis Defense reported. Gonzalez was taken around 9 p.m Friday from a family member's home at the intersection of Glendale Place at Glendale Circle. Investigators and family members said he was sitting in the family's car listening to music."The kid was sitting in front of his cousin's house with his cousin," Smyrna police Sgt. Lewis Defense said. "They were listening to music when the vehicle was stolen and the kid was abducted."Gonzalez is described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-7, 140 pounds, with short black hair, brown eyes, and braces. He was last seen wearing a red IZOD Polo shirt, black shorts, with red and black Air-Jordan basketball shoes."The Smyrna Police Department's investigators also believe Marco Antonio Gonzalez is still in the metropolitan Atlanta area," Sgt. Defense said in a statement.Police said the suspects are two Hispanic men. One is between 18 and 19 years old, 5-feet, 100 pounds, and last seen wearing a gray and black striped hooded sweatshirt.The other is also described as 5-feet, 120 pounds, approximately 20-years-old. Police said he has a round face with big cheeks with facial hair. He was last seen wearing a light blue and yellow vertical striped Polo shirt.Alerts were posted Saturday on DOT signs over metro Atlanta interstates, warning drivers to look for the stolen vehicle. SMYRNA, Ga. -- Smyrna police have identified a person of interest in the abduction of 15-year-old Marco Antonio Gonzalez.Police said the person of interest is between the ages of 20 and 22-years-old and he is believed to be in the metro Atlanta area. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.Smyrna police Saturday night said a teenager who was abducted by two men is in danger. He was taken near the intersection of Glendale Place and Glendale Circle Friday night."Please turn him back to me, please, I want him back," begged the teen's stepfather Jesus Silva.Police say 15-year-old Marco Gonzalez was kidnapped while he and his cousin sat in a parked car listening to music. Two men jumped in, and stole the car. The cousin escaped. Marco did not."They came up to us real close and knocked at the window, and I just ran," said Yuliana Nicolas, the cousin.Silva said not knowing where Gonzalez is, is like dying a slow death. He said waiting for answers was taking a toll on his family.Silva said, "Every day is getting longer and longer. I'm getting sick, very frustrated, my wife is getting worse and worse."Silva said his son has no enemies, and he did not understand why the men would take him. However, he thinks the men wanted his son, not the car, or else they would have already freed him.Marco is 140 pounds, 5'7'' tall, has short black hair and brown eyes and wears braces. Marco Antonio Gonzalez has not been seen since two men stole the family's Mercedes Benz with him inside on Friday, said police in the city of Smyrna. The teen may be in the custody of a man named Gabriel, said Sgt. Louis Defense. Officials have released a picture of the man, whom they think is armed. "[W]e don't have a last name," Defense said. "We believe he's still in the metropolitan Atlanta area." Police also do not have a motive for the teen's abduction. For the family, it was the end of a terrifying few days. But Smyrna police are still sifting through questions surrounding his disappearance and surprising return."He's OK," said Lt. Robert Harvey, a public information officer for the Smyrna Police Department. "After this long a time this usually doesn't happen."The abduction of Marco Antonio Gonzalez worried people across metro Atlanta, as authorities posted alerts on electronic highway signs and used the news media to focus attention and attract leads.The ordeal began Friday night as Gonzalez and family members attended a party down the street from their home on Glendale Circle, neighbor Deborah Karnes said. According to the police, Gonzalez was sitting in his family's Mercedes S500 with his cousin Yuliana Nicolas when two men approached their vehicle around 9 p.m. According to Nicolas' statement to police, Gonzalez locked the doors.One of the men said, "Stay calm," the report said.Nicolas told police she then opened the doors and ran to a home on Glendale Circle, where she alerted family members. Police said the men pushed Gonzalez to the front passenger seat while one jumped into the driver's seat and the other in the back.The police report said Nicolas called police to report that a gray Mercedes had been taken. But shortly thereafter, she called police again to say the first call had been a "misunderstanding." But by that time police were en route to the home. When the p0lice arrived, she told them the second call had been made in error.Shortly after his disappearance Friday, the boy called his family to say he was OK but did not know where his abductors were taking him, according to a police report.On Sunday, authorities released a photo of a person of interest in the abduction, a young man they simply named Gabriel.Family members held a vigil at the teen's house Monday, keeping a shrine of St. Mary and fresh flowers on the front porch while they waited and prayed for his return.None knew who might have taken Marco, but cousin Virginia Toribio said that they received a few phone calls from his alleged abductor during the ordeal. Toribio said the boy's mother, Fabiola Estrada, received a phone call over the weekend in which abductors asked for money but did not specify an amount. She added that they called again Monday and told Estrada that her son was "OK." Twenty minutes later, the boy drove home looking happy and well, Toribio said.Police reports revealed that the boy's home had been the target of a home invasion in November, and that three gunmen jumped the boy's mother in the family's driveway on Sept. 10 of this year.
