SAN ANTONIO -
Criminal charges are being filed
against a woman who police said refused to get help for a 4-year-old
girl after she was severely beaten.
According
to Officer Matthew Porter, a spokesman for the San Antonio Police
Department, a warrant has been issued charging Lina Aguirre, 31, with
failure to report serious bodily injury.
Records show Aguirre has been in the Bexar County jail since Saturday, when she was arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants.

Her boyfriend, Raul Solis, 23, is also in custody, charged with injury to a child.
According
to an arrest affidavit, police said Solis confessed to beating his
daughter with a belt and hitting her in the side on Wednesday because
she wet her pants.
The child, identified by a
relative as November Twilight Gonzales, suffered bruising so severe
that officers couldn’t tell what color her skin was, as well as a
lacerated liver, the affidavit stated.
Police
also believe that after the girl was injured, Aguirre refused a
relative's advice to report it, and didn’t seek medical attention for
November until 12 hours later.
Solis's mother, meanwhile, believes her son is innocent of the charges against him and may be covering up for someone else.
"My son told me, he goes, 'I swear to God. I swear, Mom, to my dad's grave, I did not hit my baby," said Anna Martinez.
Martinez
said her granddaughter had been living with her until about two weeks
ago. Martinez said since the girl’s arrival at the hospital, she hasn't
been able to find out any information on her condition, and she is sick
with worry.
"I mean, I've been crying. I almost had a nervous breakdown," Martinez said.
