The National Park Service is searching for 16-year-old Shane McNeil of Henderson, who went missing Saturday night.Officials believed the teen was hiking somewhere in the area between Gold Strike Canyon and White Rock Canyon in Lake Mead National Recreation Area east of Boulder City and south of the Hoover Dam.According to his mother, the youth hiked from their home in Henderson near the I-215 and U.S. 93 interchange to the recreation area.He had been keeping in touch with her through text messaging. His last text message was on Saturday just after 7 p.m. telling her that he could see the Colorado River and he was near Hoover Dam.She drove to pick him up at their prearranged meeting point at the Hoover Dam Visitor Center at 7:45 p.m. She reported her son missing when did not arrive by 10 p.m.National Park Service rangers and Hoover Dam Police immediately began a search of the area that lasted until 3 a.m. Sunday. The search resumed at 6:30 a.m. with park rangers, Hoover Dam Police and Las Vegas Metro Police search and rescue searching by land, air, and water.The search has been suspended for the evening but will resume at 6:30 a.m. Monday.Shane is described as a six foot tall white male, 150 lbs. with short blond hair and blue eyes.He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray shorts and white sunglasses and carrying a black backpack.He had bottled water and was carrying a couple of bibles with him. Body of missing Nevada teen found in canyon

BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) - A National Park Service official says the body of a Nevada teenager has been found near where he was reported missing along the Colorado River over the weekend.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area spokesman Andrew Munoz tells The Associated Press that trackers found Shane McNeil's body in Boy Scout Canyon at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Munoz says the 16-year-old from Henderson was found in a rugged area in canyons south of Hoover Dam and east of Boulder City.

Munoz didn't immediately know the cause of death.

He says the search team found tracks matching shoes his family said he was wearing when he was reported missing late Saturday.

A news conference was scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at a search command post off Hemenway Access Road.

Coroner: Cause of hiker’s death unknown

The Clark County coroner’s office said last week it could not determine a cause of death for the 16-year-old Henderson resident found in September in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

The office said that it had no reason to believe that the death of Shane McNeil was anything other than an accident.

McNeil’s body was found Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. in Boy Scout Canyon near Lake Mead.

McNeil, who was hiking alone, was reported missing Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. by his mother when he did not show up at a prearranged meeting point
