The DeLONG Children - Dover DE

A Dover man and woman are facing multiple charges after being accused of physically abusing their children when disciplining them.Sandra Delong, 42, is charged with two counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of second-degree assault, three counts of second-degree reckless endangering, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Her husband, Christopher Delong, 40, is charged with first-degree reckless endangering, third-degree assault, terroristic threatening, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of offensive touching.


Dover police say the Delongs were arrested Monday following an investigation into allegations that they improperly disciplined their children. According to police, one of the children disclosed that Christopher Delong choked his child to the point of unconsciousness approximately two years ago.The couple's children underwent forensic interviews during which time investigators say they all disclosed that their mother, Sandra Delong, used a wooden bat to strike them in the buttocks, legs, and thighs, as a means of discipline.After being taken into custody on the aforementioned charges, Sandra Delong was released on $33,000 unsecured bond. Christopher Delong was released on $7,500 unsecured bond.The couple's children have been placed in the custody of the Division of Family Services.
