The NEELY Children - One deceased-16 Months - Clover (W of Charlotte NC) SC
Clover parents face child-abuse related charges after an investigation following their 16-month-old's drowning earlier this year.Albert Neely, 39, was charged with unlawful neglect of a child Monday in connection with his children's living conditions, said Lt. Mike Baker of the York County Sheriff's Office.Officials also expect to charge the children's mother with the same charge. She had not been arrested as of Monday evening.
Officers found no wrongdoing in respect to the child's death. The investigation was launched in August after Neely's 16-month-old child died in an apparent drowning in the family's bath tub.Neely isn't charged in connection with his child's Aug. 21 death, Baker said. The boy was found around 2:30 a.m. in a bathtub with water inside a Meadow Road home. The unlawful neglect charge stems from general welfare of the home and the living conditions for the family's other children, ages 5 and 3, Baker said.Issues included lack of cleanliness and conditions that weren't safe and suitable for children, Baker said. The family has since moved and the Department of Social Services is involved.Albert Neely was being held at the Moss Justice Center Monday.
