The mother of a seriously injured 7-month-old girl and the
mother's boyfriend have been charged with child abuse,
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say.
Darrius Brice, 20, and Talisa Ramseur, 22, were charged Friday by
police. Ramseur's daughter, Destiny Brice, was taken to Carolinas
Medical Center, where she remains hospitalized.
Police say officers were called to Brice's apartment on Trinity
Road in response to a call about spouse abuse. That's when they
discovered the seriously injured infant.
Members of the mother's family told WSOC-TV that Ramseur was not
responsible for the injuries to the baby. They also said the infant
might have suffered permanent brain damage.
Brice was charged with child abuse inflicting serious injury and
assault on a female. He is being held under $111,500 bond. Ramseur was
charged with child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
She is jailed under $50,000 bond.
