ANTHONY GALLEGOS - 3 Months (2007) - Pedley (W of Riverside) CA

A Riverside jury today found a Pedley man guilty of murder in the 2007 death of his infant son. Rene Gallegos, 26, also was found guilty of assault on a child resulting in injury or death and five misdemeanor counts of child abuse. He is due back in court Dec.10 for sentencing. The Riverside County Superior Court jury will continue deliberating Monday (Nov. 1) in the case of Joanna Gonzalez, 23. Gonzalez and Gallegos were the parents of 3-month-old Anthony Gallegos, who stopped breathing while in his father's care. An autopsy showed Anthony suffered brain hemorrhaging and multiple blows to the head within 24 hours of his death. Gonzalez also is charged with murder, assault on a child and misdemeanor child abuse.
