"Infant John" RAMIREZ - 19 Months - Kirby/San Antonio TX
A teenage mother is in jail, accused of abusing her toddler. Detectives with Kirby Police Department say the young mom believes her son is a demon.
Olivia Ramirez, 19, is charged with injury to a child. Ramirez is accused of biting her 19-month-old son.
Kirby Police were called to a house on Bill Anders on Tuesday where Ramirez's family reported seeing teeth marks on the little boy's left thigh.
"For the many, many years that I've been a police officer I've never seen anyone take a bite out of a child for any reason," said Detective Wes Swearingen of the Kirby Police Department.
The biting is not the only abuse witnesses reported to police. Investigators say Ramirez even threw her son on the ground in front of several family members.
"She for some reason has said that she believes the child is a demon, and has referred to him as a devil," said Det. Swearingen.
Ramirez was also arrested for viciously attacking her son back in June, 2009. She was indicted for that biting attack in March 2010.
"The gruesomeness of this is just appalling," said Det. Swearingen.
Police say when they arrested Ramirez this week, her son had obvious signs of abuse, and her 5-month-old daughter showed signs of neglect.
Ramirez remains in jail on a $50,000 bond. The children are being cared for by relatives, according to investigators.
