WHITEHALL, Ohio -- Nov 8 2010 A Whitehall mother's live-in boyfriend is expected in court Monday after a toddler in his care suffers head trauma and dies overnight Sunday.Whitehall police arrested and charged Bryan M. Johnson, 19, of Whitehall Sunday.Johnson was charged with felonious assault in the death of 22-month-old London Hodge.London died overnight Sunday. She suffered from significant brain damage consistent with abusive head trauma, according to Whitehall detectives.NBC 4 spoke with London's mother, Natasha Steele, Sunday.Steele said she was at a work function Saturday and Johnson, her live-in boyfriend, was baby-sitting London.Steele said Johnson texted her with a message that said London was sick.Hours later, medics were called to their shared Great Oak Way apartment.Steele said Johnson called her as her little girl was dying at Nationwide Children's Hospital."Said he was sorry. And all I could day was, 'Sorry? You're sorry? My baby girl was dying, and she has no chance of recovering, and all you can say is sorry?' He said, 'You don't know what happened.' Whitehall Toddler Dies; Mom's Boyfriend Arraigned On Assault Charges
Judge Orders $200K Bond, Orders Him To Stay Away From Child's Mother

A Whitehall mother's live-in boyfriend is arraigned on felonious assault charges after a toddler who was in his care suffered injuries and died over the weekend. Johnson was arraigned on felonious assault charges in a Franklin County municipal courtroom Monday morning. He was given a bond of $200,000 and ordered to stay away from the mother of the child.

Whitehall police detectives said a grand jury would be asked to indict Johnson on murder charges.
A preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday, Nov. 17.

There also is a pending domestic violence case involving Johnson and Steele filed in Muskingum County.

WHITEHALL, Ohio — A man accused in a toddler's death has been indicted on murder charges.

Bryan M. Johnson remained in jail on Wednesday, 10TV News reported.

Johnson, 19, was initially charged with felonious assault earlier this month after police said his girlfriend's baby was shaken to death.

Police said 21-month-old London Hodge suffered injuries with abusive head trauma and shaken baby syndrome.

Johnson was watching the child at Whitehall apartment when she was injured.

Hodge's mother, Natasha Steele, was at her internship when the baby was injured.

Johnson is not the child's father.

Boyfriend Takes Plea Deal In Whitehall Toddler's Death

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio -- A Whitehall mother's live-in boyfriend takes a plea deal after a toddler in his care suffered injuries and died last November.

Bryan M. Johnson, 20, took a plea deal in Franklin County common pleas court Tuesday, according to the prosecutor's office.

He pleaded guilty to felony involuntary manslaughter and felony child endangering.

Johnson is accused in the death of 22-month-old London Hodge.

His sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 15, 2011.

Johnson's original indictment included first-degree felony counts of murder, involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault plus two felony counts of endangering children.

Emergency personnel received a 911 call from Johnson and arrived at a Whitehall townhouse on Great Oak Way shortly after 7 p.m. Nov. 6, 2010.

Johnson was baby-sitting London while his girlfriend was at work, and alleged the baby was dropped, vomited shortly thereafter and later stopped breathing.

Johnson was the boyfriend to 21-year-old Natasha Steele, who is the infants' biological mother.

Steele said she was at a work function Saturday and Johnson, her live-in boyfriend, was baby-sitting London.

London was taken Nationwide Children's Hospital with severe head trauma, where she died the following morning.
