MALIA RANSOM - 1 yo (2010) - Oklahoma City OK
Police arrested an Oklahoma City mother and her boyfriend on allegations the two were responsible for the death of the mother's baby. One-year-old Malia Ransom died on Sunday. The state medical examiner's office ruled the child died from internal injuries caused by blunt force trauma.
The child's mother, Cierra Mona Ransom, and the mother's boyfriend Omar Jamon Hill have been arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and allowing or permitting child abuse. The two are being held in the county jail without bail. Three other children living in the mother's home have been taken into Department of Human Services.

One-year-old Malia Ransom, of Oklahoma City, died Sunday from internal bleeding and had injuries consistent with child abuse, police reported Wednesday. The state medical examiner said Malia’s death will be ruled a homicide, Oklahoma City detective James Allen wrote in an affidavit filed Wednesday in Oklahoma County District Court. The affidavit was filed to support the arrest of the girl’s mother, Cierra Mona Ransom, 24, and the mother’s boyfriend, Omar Hill, 30, on complaints of first-degree murder and permitting child abuse.“The coroner found Malia to have blunt force trauma to her abdomen,” the affidavit said. “She had a lacerated liver, bruising to her colon, a torn pancreas, her diaphragm was separated from her liver, her inferior vena cava had been torn, her right lung was lacerated, both lungs had contusions, she had a subdural hematoma and a cracked skull.”Malia reportedly died from internal bleeding within 10 minutes of the injury. The officer stated Hill and Cierra Ransom were the only adults in the house who could have caused the injuries.Hill told officers he found Malia on the floor, “face down and moaning” on Sunday morning, the affidavit said. Hill said he took Malia to his girlfriend and called 911.

Juror Who Convicted OKC Man In Child's Death Recalls Graphic Details
OKLAHOMA CITY -
A juror who found an Oklahoma City man guilty of murdering a 20 month-old-child recalls the details of what she calls a life-altering trial. Only on News 9, the juror told us about the graphic testimony that led to the guilty verdict.
From the beginning, the juror, who does not want to use her name, said something wasn't right about 31-year-old Omar Hill.
"You can't look at somebody and tell if they are a killer, but he came off as being so nice and kind and then lawyers started asking him questions, and he got agitated," the juror said.
The jury she sat on convicted Hill of first-degree murder for the death of his girlfriend's daughter, 20-month-old Malia Ransom. The girl died November 21, 2010.
Jurors listened to hours of testimony and saw graphic pictures, one that left the young juror with nightmares.
"I'll admit I had a nightmare about this case. The pictures of her autopsy are going to be in my mind forever and we will never know exactly what happened to this little girl," the juror said.
Malia had a skull fracture and a number of internal injuries. The juror said the little girl was so badly beaten, one of the major artery's to her heart was torn. The girl also suffered a fractured skull.
Hill's defense was that Malia's aunt performed CPR and caused the internal injuries and the head injury was from falling off a bunk bed.
The juror said based on the state's medical experts, none of that was possible. She was convinced of Hill's guilt after hearing the closing arguments.
"The state said we were witnessing history that if this little girl had been killed by CPR that it was history, she would be the first person who ever died from CPR," the juror said.
Jurors deliberated two hours before finding Hill guilty of murder. The young juror said the decision came easy and doesn't regret making it.
"This little girl deserved justice and justice has been served," she said.
Charges were dropped against the girl's mother Cierra Ransom. The juror said Ransom was at the trial and on the last day had to be escorted out of the courtroom because of an outburst.
Hill will be sentenced January 20. The jury recommended life with the possibility of parole.

The murderer was supposed to be sentenced on Jan 20 but I couldn't find an updated article. I hope the got life.
Also, I wonder why charges were dropped against the mother as articles said she was at home when the baby was beat and it doesn't appear that Omar Hill said she she didn't have anything to do with it. If she was there and allowed the abuse, then she should be prosecuted too.
