"John" PURVIS-SATTERFIELD - 7 Months - Jacksonville FL

The parents of a 7-month-old boy hit by a bullet from an assault rifle at a Westside motel early Wednesday morning appeared in court Thursday on child abuse charges.After a first appearance before a judge, Justin Satterfield, 25, who is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, was ordered held on $400,000 bond. His wife, Brandy Purvis, 24, is being held on $250,000 bond.According to state attorney's office, the boy was grazed in the chest and shot in the arm by a bullet accidentally discharged from an AK-47 just before 3 a.m. Wednesday at the Super 8 Motel on Youngerman Circle.The boy was transported to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
