Casey Anthony: Does her sex life matter to case?

Casey Anthony’s attorneys are arguing that some evidence, including her sexual history, is irrelevant to her murder case and could prejudice a jury, WKMG-Channel 6 reported tonight. The defense filed the six motions late in the day.

“According to court records, Casey Anthony once had numerous sex partners,” WKMG’s Mike DeForest reported. “Tonight Anthony’s attorneys are trying to prevent jurors from hearing details about her intimate relationships.”

DeForest also highlighted that Anthony’s attorneys:

***Want Anthony’s prior thefts and lies kept from the jury, arguing, “There are no allegations that the character history of the defendant had anything to do with the charged offenses.”

***Don’t want jurors to see a shovel that Anthony borrowed from a neighbor after her daughter, Caylee, disappeared. Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Caylee. DeForest added, “The defense accurately points out that there is no evidence which links the shovel to the commission of any of the charges.”

Judge Belvin Perry will rule on whether the evidence will be allowed before the trial starts in May, DeForest explained.

Anchor Lauren Rowe wanted odds on whether the defense team would be successful.

“It’s certainly possible the prosecutors may look at this and say, ‘Hey, we weren’t going to use that evidence at trial anyway,’ ” DeForest said. ”But others, there may be a big courtroom battle over it.”

Also tonight, WESH-Channel 2 shared a statement from George Anthony’s attorneys. The statement came in response to comments by Krystal Holloway — also known as River Cruz — who says she became a confidante of George Anthony. In documents released last week, Holloway said that George Anthony confided to her that he believed Casey had killed Caylee and that he had tried to choke his daughter.

The statement from Lippman Law Offices reads, “At no time did George Anthony become ‘more than friends’ with Holloway/Cruz. At no time did George Anthony confide any of his opinions or thoughts to Holloway/Cruz regarding this case. At no time did George Anthony grab Casey Anthony around the neck or throw her against a wall.”
