CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The lead attorney for the Casey Anthony defense team told Local 6 News that a private matter forced the abrupt end to Day 9 of jury selection.
Judge Belvin Perry on Wednesday afternoon adjourned jury selection in the Casey Anthony murder case without providing a reason for the unusual move.
In a written statement, lead defense attorney Jose Baez said, "Today's adjournment was due to a private matter. Please stop the speculation, as jury selection will continue at 8:30 a.m. (Thursday) morning."
Baez didn't say what the private matter was or whom it concerned.
