An 11-month-old child's broken arm has prompted the arrest of the girl's babysitter.
Maria Delesancha has been charged with aggravated battery on a child.
Doctors said their examination showed the baby had additional
broken bones, possibly from two separate previous incidents, that
looked like they had gone untreated, and improperly healed.
Delesancha, 59, lives in DeLand, but is not a U.S. citizen.
The girl's parents took her to Florida Hospital DeLand, when
they noticed her arm was deformed. That was when doctors called police.
Delesancha reportedly initially denied being the girl's
babysitter, or even knowing the parents. But evidence showed she had
cared for the baby for nine months.
