The grandmother of a 14-year-old Salina girl who ran away from home
11 days ago was putting up fliers Monday in hopes of finding her.

Kimberly Green, a ninth-grader at Salina Central High School, left
home April 22 and hasn't contacted her family in about five days, said
Eva Seay, Kimberly's grandmother.

Green went to school at 7 a.m. that day and hasn't returned, Seay
said. Seay said all Green had with her was her backpack, but she didn't
know if she had packed clothing in it.

Capt. Mike Sweeney of the Salina Police Department confirmed that
Green had been reported as a runaway on April 22. Sweeney said Green's
mother has received text messages from her, but the girl did not give
her location.

Seay said Green wrote in the text messages that she was hungry and she "doesn't know how to come home."

Seay said Green ran away once before this year, but she returned home
after being gone overnight. She said Green is a quiet girl and was an
honor student last year.

Sweeney said police are looking for Green, and she is among people
currently on the department's "hot sheet." He said the department pretty
regularly handles reports of teen-aged runaways, but usually they
return home before they are found.

Police ask that anyone who knows of Green's whereabouts call the department, 826-7210.

Missing Salina girl back after 13 days

A 14-year-old Salina girl returned home Wednesday after running away about 13 days ago, her grandmother said.

Kimberly Green is safely home, said her grandmother, Eva Seay. Seay
thanked Salina residents who were watching for the girl for their
assistance in bringing her home.

Seay said Kimberly has not told the family where she had been.
