Officials request help in finding missing teen

CHARLESTON,
S.C. (WCIV) -- The Charleston Police Department has requested the
public's help in locating a missing Mary Ader Avenue teen.
Savannah Grace Woods, 17, was last seen
wearing a blue floral bathing suit and a light blue t-shirt. She
reportedly told her mother she was going to the beach.
She has brown hair, brown eyes, is approximately 5-foot-6 and weighs about 108 pounds.
Officials believe she may be at Folly Beach or in the James Island area.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Charleston Police Department at 843-577-7434.

Runaway teen accused of head-butting deputy, resisting arrest

A teenager listed as a runaway through the Charleston Police Department
was arrested Thursday for allegedly head-butting a sheriff's deputy while resisting arrest.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office
arrested 17-year-old Savannah Grace Woods on charges of resisting
arrest, assault on a police officer while resisting arrest, assault and
battery in the third degree and malicious damage to property.
Deputies responded to 1325 Trenholm Drive on
James Island around 7:30 p.m. Thursday in reference to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, deputies met with a complainant who told authorities
there had been several people fighting at a party. The complainant
identified a person named "Grace" as causing the disturbance and that
she was wanted by the police.
Deputies located "Grace" hiding in the
bushes behind the residence. Authorities then discovered that the
subject was actually Savannah Grace Woods who was listed as a runaway
through the Charleston Police Department. Authorities sent out a
missing persons report for Woods on Tuesday.
According to an incident report, Woods
appeared unsteady on her feet and intoxicated. Woods was argumentative
and refused to cooperate with deputies so she was taken into custody.
Deputies say she continued to be disorderly by cursing and kicking
deputies and others in the area.
While attempting to secure Woods in the
deputy's cruiser, authorities say Woods head-butted the deputy several
times causing the deputy's tooth to break. The deputy also sustained
minor cuts on the lip and minor swelling to the head. On several
occasions Woods also kicked at the windows and door of the deputy's
cruiser causing damage to the door.
Woods was lodged in the Al Cannon Detention Center. She was placed on a $52,674 surety bond.

They were informed that she had been fighting several people at the party on Trenholm Drive and was wanted by the police.

After officials with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office
confirmed "Grace" to be 17-year-old Charleston runaway Savannah Grace
Woods, officials said another fight began -- a fight against the
deputies.

It was noted in an incident report that Woods was unsteady on her
feet and appeared intoxicated. Officials said she was argumentative and
refused to cooperate.

While being placed in a deputy's cruiser, officials said she
head-butted a deputy several times, causing the deputy's tooth to break
and minor cuts to his lip, and minor swelling to his head. Woods
reportedly kicked the windows and doors of the deputy's cruiser,
causing damage to the door.

Officials said Woods is currently being held on charges of resisting
arrest, assault and battery third degree and malicious damage to
property.

She has been placed on a $52,674 surety bond.
