NYATHINIJIN RUOT NYAW - 7 yo - Storm Lake (E of Sioux City) IA

Storm
Lake police are asking for your help in locating a missing 7-year-old
girl. Authorities say they were contacted just after midnight Thursday
about Nyathinijin Ruot Nyaw. She apparently was last seen Wednesday
around 4 p-m in Radio Park in Storm Lake. Family told police she was on
her way to Kings Pointe Water Park with friends. Police have canvassed
neighborhoods and known addresses that the young girl frequents... but
have been unable to locate her.

Nyathinjin's described as being thin in
build.... approximately 3'5" with black, short braided hair with
extensions. She was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, white t-shirt,
blue jeans with blue and red flip-flop shoes. She may have with her a
silver razor scooter. Anyone with information on the girl is asked to
call the Storm Lake Police Department.

Storm Lake woman charged after child located

A Storm Lake woman faces charges of child endangerment after her
seven-year-old daughter was found at the child's friends home following
an eight-hour search by the Storm Lake Police Department Thursday.
Storm Lake Police took a report of the missing girl at midnight
Thursday, after the child had been missing for approximately eight
hours. Officers were told by the boyfriend of Nyachin Koal, 34, mother
of missing girl, that she had been playing with other children in Radio
Park and may have gone with some neighborhood children to King's Pointe
Water Park in town. The young girl never returned home and so the
boyfriend started looking for her. The police were notified at midnight
and spent the remainder of the night canvassing the community.

Police allege that the mother slept most of the period between 4 p.m.
Wednesday and midnight Thursday. The police also allege that when the
search began for the girl, the mother returned to bed.

Officers searched the neighborhood, following leads on possible homes
she may have been at. Additional Storm Lake officers were called as the
search expanded near daybreak. The police checked parks and lakefront
area on ATVs. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources was contacted to
deploy a patrol boat to check the Storm Lake shore line. The Buena Vista
County Sheriff's Office also provided assistance in the search. A missing child alert was sent out to local and regional media as well as text and e-mail messages.

Just before 8 a.m. officers were advised that the child was at a
residence in the 100 block of Oneida Street. Police responded to the
address and the occupants of the home told law enforcement she had been
playing with their child since 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, and had spent the
night. They had assumed the young girl had permission to be there. As
soon as the occupants of the home realized she was reported missing,
they notified authorities.

She was healthy and safe when found.

Police continued their investigation into Thursday afternoon before
arresting Koal, after she reportedly failed to report the child missing.
Koal was booked into Buena Vista County Jail, and later released
pending a court date.

A report has been forwarded to the Department of Human Services.
