LANCASTER — A missing child who police initially thought was
abducted in Pickerington was found unharmed at the Lancaster Motel with
her custodial parent.
Lancaster Police located 4-year-old Jayla
Bryant at the motel with her father, Todd M. Bryant, who was accused on
Saturday of abducting the girl.

The father, who had threatened to
harm himself, was detained on an unrelated traffic warrant out of
Pickerington, said Sgt. Greg Annis of the Pickerington Division of
Police.
He was taken to the Pickerington police department for questioning, he said.

Jayla Bryant was released to her grandfather, Annis said.

An
Amber Alert was issued for the girl on Saturday morning. Lancaster
police were asked to check the Lancaster Motel, 533 S. Columbus St.,
where they arrived around 8:50 a.m., Sgt. Matt Chambers said.

“The door was blocked with a chair,” Chambers said. “We had to push our way in.”

The Amber Alert was issued out of concern for Jayla Bryant’s well-being, Annis said.

“Our concern was more on the safety of the child,” he said.
