"Newborn G.S." - 5 Weeks/ Accused: Jaime Sousa - Washington (SW of Pittsburgh) PA

A 26-year-old Washington man faces charges of abusing a 5-week-old
child. Authorities say they discovered the infant had suffered numerous
bone fractures, court papers say.

Jaime G. Sousa, of the first block of Midland Avenue in Washington,
was trusted with caring for the infant when he abused the child,
authorities allege. Court records only provided the initials G.S. to
identify the infant and did not clearly establish a relationship between
Sousa and the child.

Court records identify Oct. 13 as the day
of the crime, but wording in the complaint indicates the child suffered
injuries over the course of the baby's life.

Calls to the Warren
County Prosecutor's Office seeking more information about the infant's
condition and the nature of the injuries were not returned this
afternoon.

Sousa was charged with allowing injury to a child in
his care and child abuse. He was sent to Warren County jail in lieu of
$100,000 and ordered to avoid all contact with minors, court papers say.
