FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Fort Myers man faces child cruelty charges after a seven week old baby ended up in a Miami hospital.

Jonathan Rendon was booked into the Lee County Jail on Monday. Fort Myers police say Rendon claimed he slipped on water in his living room and the child hit their head on his knee.

The baby now has a skull fracture and a brain bleed.

Doctors say those injuries could not have happened from a slip and fall.

Rendon is out of jail on bond.
