UPDATE: The Travis County Medical Examiner's Office says the child shot in the attack has died. Azareyh Aleyiah Owens was 18 months old.

UPDATE: Police say the man that committed suicide in a SWAT standoff in Northeast Austin Monday afternoon was the father of the child shot in Ledbetter.

He has been identified as 25-year-old Deandre Rashad Owens (pictured).
Investigators say he is a person of interest in the murder of Justice Martinez.

EARLIER:
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says a woman was killed and a child was injured in a shooting on Monday afternoon.

The Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about the shooting around noon on Monday, a press release said. A woman was found lying on the floor in a home on US Highway 290 near the community of Ledbetter.

Police say the woman, identified as 19-year-old Justice Martinez, was pronounced dead at the scene. The child was taken to Dell Children's Hospital.

Police say the person of interest was believed to have traveled to Austin. This is still an active investigation.

One person was discovered dead after a SWAT situation in northeast Austin Monday afternoon.

According to officials, a call was placed to 9-11 from the subject. Police made a welfare check at an apartment complex at the 1000 block of Clayton Lane.

The caller, a 25 year-old black male, refused to respond to officers. SWAT was then called in. Immediate neighbors were evacuated, although police state that the subject was not a threat.

After several hours, SWAT moved in and found the subject dead from an apparent suicide.

According to AISD Police, Harris Elementary School was placed in lockdown for a short amount of time.
