The suspect, Ricardo Lara Martinez, is believed to be involved in the child's abduction. The suspect was last heard from in Denton, Texas and is travelling on foot. DENTON, Texas -- Police issued an Amber Alert Saturday night for four-year-old Ricardo Alekzander Lara after his mother was found murdered at a Denton business.

Police were seeking the boy's biological father, 23-year-old Ricardo Lara Martinez, in connection with his disappearance. Martinez was said to be a "person of interest" in the death of 27-year-old Maria Isabel Romero Medina.

Martinez may have ties to Mexico, and police said they consider his son to be in "grave danger," which is why the Amber Alert was issued.

Police said they were called to the Sanchez Insurance and Tax office at 1111 East McKinney Street shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday after a customer found the door locked. Another employee of the business entered to find Medina.

Police were using flashlights to search for clues at the insurance office late Saturday night.

Martinez is described as a Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes; he's 5'-5" tall and weighs 150 lbs. Police did not say what he was wearing, and no vehicle information was available.

The child is three feet tall, weighs 55 lbs. and has brown hair and brown eyes. No clothing description was given.

She was killed inside her workplace Saturday night, Sanchez Tax and Insurance. Police won't say how she was killed, but did say that Medina and Martinez were in a custody battle.

Denton police said Sunday that someone reported seeing the child and his father at a Houston convenience store. Martinez is also said to have ties to Chicago, Springfield, Missouri and Mexico City.

Police discontinue Amber Alert for missing Denton boy

Late Monday night, Denton police discontinued an Amber Alert for four-year-old Ricardo Lara. The child went missing after his mother, Maria Isabel Romero Medina, 27, was found dead at the Denton insurance agency where she worked on Saturday afternoon.

Investigators say while they are still looking for Ricardo, the case no longer meets the requirements of an Amber Alert. No further explanation was given.
