A child reported missing Thursday was located Friday morning and taken to a children's hospital in Chattanooga.
Sgt.
Scott Matthews of the Scottsboro Police Department said authorities
were notified after a woman and her boyfriend took her 23-month-old
child to a doctor’s office on Harley Street in Scottsboro Thursday
afternoon.
“DHR was notified due to injuries on the child,” said
Matthews. “The mother got wind DHR had been called, got the baby and
left. The baby had not been treated.”
A missing child alert was
issued by the Alabama Department of Public Safety for John Will
Thompson. It was reported the child was in the custody of his mother,
Pamela Thompson and her boyfriend, Craig Guess Jr. and in need of
medical attention.
Matthews said he talked with Pamela Thompson Friday morning.
“She agreed to meet at her sister’s house on Steam Plant Road in Stevenson,” Matthews said.
Because of the location, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted.
Sheriff Dennis Miller said the child was taken to T.C. Thompson Children Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn.
“Investigators reported the child was playful and walking, but he did have visible bruises,” Miller said.
Miller said no charges have been filed against the mother or boyfriend.
“It's
very early in the investigation,” he said. “First and foremost, our
concern is with the child to make sure he is safe and receiving medical
treatment.”

Re: JOHN WILL THOMPSON - 1 yo - Scottsboro AL
Jackson County authorities have
issued a warrant for the arrest of a Stevenson woman who was at the
center of a missing baby search last week.
29-year-old Pamela Thompson and her boyfriend, Craig Guess, Jr. Are both charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Last week, we told you that authorities launched a search Thursday
after Thompson's 23-month-old son, John Will Thompson, went missing
from a medical facility.
Officials say baby John was suffering from undisclosed injuries, and that they were told the child needed medical attention.
A missing child alert was issued by the Alabama Department of Public Safety soon after.
Thompson and her child were found at her sister's house in Stevenson the next day.
The child was taken to Chattanooga where he was treated for his injuries.
Pamela Thompson said that she didn't abuse her child, and that was hurt himself while playing.
She also said that she left the medical center with her son because she felt scared.
"He told me that they were self inflicted wounds and I beat my son.
I'm sorry for making myself look guilty, but my heart told me to run I
was scared somebody would take him away again!
I feel bad and I looked guilty when I ran, but I didn't want them to
snatch my son out of my arms,".
Thompson says this isn't the first time she's had John taken away.
She said that right after she gave birth to John, she tested positive for marijuana.
Thompson is also the mother to a 6 year old son.
