"Infant John" ANDERSON - 10 Months - Fairmont (nr PA/MD line) WV
Fairmont WV ----A Marion County woman will spend 3-15 years in prison for her part in
the death of her 10-month-old son. Judge David Janes sentenced Jennifer Meacham on Thursday, May 20. Meacham pleaded guilty to child neglect resulting in death in August
2008. As part of that plea agreement, Meacham was required to testify at Jason
Anderson’s trial, which was held in April. Jurors found Anderson, the child’s father, guilty of first-degree murder
by a parent and sentenced him to life in prison. During Anderson’s trial, Meacham told the court she wanted to help her
son, but claimed she was afraid Anderson would beat her if she did. Investigators found the underfed child covered in sores and lying on a
urine-soaked mattress in the couple’s home. Meacham also told the court that Anderson hit the child. Janes gave Meacham credit for time served. Meacham was booked in the West Virginia Regional Jail system on Aug. 9,
2007, according to the West Virginia Regional Jail Authority’s website.
That means she will be eligible to go before the parole board to request
release this August. Meacham is in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail, awaiting transfer to a state prison.
