It's been two years since a Hazelwood, Missouri teen went missing and
investigators say they have no leads into the girl's disappearance.
Tuesday night, family and friends gathered for
a prayer service to keep the missing teen in the forefront of people's
minds.

Those who love Shemika Cosey say even two years later, her disappearance is extremely difficult to deal with.



Friends and family gathered in St. Louis County by candlelight, singing
hymns, reading scripture, and praying for some closure to the
disappearance of Shemika Cosey. Cosey was last seen December 28, 2008 in
Berkeley. She was 16-years-old at the time.

Shemika's mother, Paula Cosey, says her daughter was spending the night
with relatives in the 6000 block of Napier. Family members say when they
went to bed that night, Shemika was still up watching television. When
relatives woke-up the next morning, Shemika was gone and so were her
coat and purse.

The clothes the teen brought for her overnight stay were still in place,
and the door to the house was left unlocked, a sign Paula Cosey says
shows her daughter intended to return.

"Somebody has my daughter. I think somebody have her. She might have
left with somebody she don't know anything about but they had no right
to keep my child," Cosey said.

Shemika Cosey was last seen wearing a tan colored Old Navy jacket and

She disappeared three years ago when she was just 16 years old. Now family members of Shemika Cosey hope you can help find her.

They’re going to hand out fliers of the missing teen from 10:00am-2:00pm Wednesday at Airport Road and Fay Drive in Berkeley. That’s not far from where Cosey disappeared back on December 28, 2008.

Cosey was last seen at a relative’s home on Napier in Berkeley. Berkeley Police Chief Frank McCall says he believes Cosey left her relative’s home voluntarily, but she never returned.

McCall says there is no evidence of foul play and the case is being investigated as a missing person of a suspicious nature.

That 'suspicious nature' tag is being put on the case because Cosey hasn’t been seen since December 2008.

FOX 2 was there a year ago when Shemika’s family and friends held a candlelight vigil hoping to keep attention on her case.

We’re told Shemika is 5’2” and at the time she disappeared weighed between 135 and 150 pounds.
