A community in the northwest suburbs is uniting to find a missing teenager.
Raquel "Rachel" Bonilla, 16, has been missing for three days.

Bonilla is a junior at Schaumburg High School but never made it home on Wednesday. Her family says she always calls but has not used her cell phone. She does not have any money or a car. "It's never happened before. Usually she has the guilty conscience,
you know, calls us right back,
and you know, let's us know at least
where she's at or that she's OK.
But so far, no call from her," said the
missing teen's brother Daniel Bonilla. On Saturday, volunteers handed out fliers with her photo on them. Anyone who may have seen Bonilla is asked to call the Schaumburg Police Department.

Family members and friends are spreading the word through leaflets
and Facebook posts, trying to locate 16-year-old Raquel “Rachel” Bonilla.
The Schaumburg teen has been missing for four days.



Her brother, Daniel Bonilla, said that on Wednesday, the
Schaumburg High School junior told her mother that was going to stay after school.
“She was supposed to get a ride from somebody or call for a ride and just never did,” her brother said.
He said their mother filed a report Wednesday night.
“We figured maybe she is out with a friend, something like that.
But when she didn’t call, it was very unlike her,” he said.
Family members describe Bonilla as close to her family and said she
generally hangs out at home, which is one reason they are worrying.
According to family, Bonilla has a cell phone but left the charger at home.
“We’re calling constantly,” her brother said. “No answer, nothing.
We’re just leaving voice mail after voice mail, text messages.”
Also, he said, she left her clothing at home.
Daniel Bonilla said Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates police have been
doing all they can, patrolling and following up on leads.
Meanwhile, he said friends and family members have been using social networking
and passing out fliers to raise awareness of themissing teen.
“It’s spreading like wildfire now,” her brother said.
Raquel Bonilla does not have a job and does not have a driver’s license, he added.
“She has got a good head on her shoulders,” he said. “I don’t think she would do this by herself.”

Schaumburg Girl Missing Since Wednesday
Family seeking help from the public in locating the teen

The family of a Schaumburg teen who has been missing since Wednesday is reaching out to the public for help.
Raquel "Rachel" Bonilla, a 16-year-old junior at Schaumburg High School, was last heard from via text on Wednesday, March 2nd.


Efforts to locate the girl's whereabouts have been unsuccessful since then.
Bonilla's mother received a text from her daughter at 1:50 pm, Wednesday, stating "she was staying after school to make up some quizzes she had missed when she was out with the stomach flu."
When her mother returned home Wednesday and noticed the girl was still not home, she began to worry.
"Raquel always takes a nap after school, she's a napper, she's either here, in my room, or hers. I walked into every room and nothing," her mother said.
“She’s always calling [me], even if she’s running a few minutes late.”
She then began repeatedly trying to contact her daughter to find out where she was. "I texted her saying: Rach-- where are you? You're not home."
When Raquel failed to respond, her mother contacted the phone company.
She discovered there had been no activity on the teen's account since the text message at 1:50 pm.
Bonilla's mother proceeded to take a copy of the cell phone records and a photo of the girl to the Schaumburg Police Department. According to the family, police are looking into every lead.
Volunteers distributed fliers with Bonilla's photo on them to the public on Friday and Saturday but still have not had any contact with the teen.
A facebook page has been launched in hopes to gain additional help in locating the Bonilla.

Schaumburg police continue to look for a 16-year-old girl missing since last week, but say they do not suspect foul play.

Raquel Bonilla sent a text message to her mother Wednesday afternoon indicating she
was
staying after school, according to a Schaumburg police press release.
But phone records show the girl used her cell phone after school twice
in the vicinity of the southwest Schaumburg/northeast Hanover Park area.

Police
say she may have left home on her own initiative. People interviewed
by detectives have given false or misleading statements about contact
with Raquel, they add.

Detectives received information that
Raquel was dropped off at a train station by an acquaintance so Raquel
could travel to Chicago. But the Bonilla family also provided police
with information about possible sightings of Raquel in the Schaumburg
and Elgin areas between Wednesday and Friday.

Schaumburg police
detectives are also investigating a report from the Bonilla family that
Raquel had an on-line friendship with a Chicago area man in his early
20’s.
Raquel is described as Hispanic, 5-feet-5, 170 pounds with brown eyes, black hair and a medium complexion.

MISSING SCHAUMBURG TEEN, RAQUEL BONILLA, FOUND

UPDATE: MISSING TEEN FOUND … After a Chicagoland search and
investigation, Raquel “Rachel” Bonilla was found Monday at 2 p.m. at a
hotel on the 7700 block of South Cicero Avenue near Midway
International Airport. Bonilla was found with a 27-year-old Chicago
man, and both individuals were transported to Schaumburg Police
Headquarters for questioning.Police had found a letter in a notebook in Bonilla’s locker at
Schaumburg High School that was written to Bonilla’s mother saying she
was running away. The letter was found either Sunday morning or earlier
today. Interviews and further investigation led to the hotel near
Midway.

Chicago, Ill. - 16-year-old Raquel Bonilla of Schaumburg, who had
been missing from home since last Wednesday, was found Monday afternoon
with a 27-year-old man at a hotel near the Ford City shopping center on
the Southwest Side of Chicago. Bonilla was reported missing last
Wednesday by her mother after the teen girl did not come home from
school, according to a Schaumburg police release. Police said
there was “absolutely no evidence” Bonilla was the victim of foul play
and indications were she left home on her own initiative. Bonilla
sent a text message to her mother last Wednesday indicating she was
staying after school, the release said. Phone records indicate she used
her cell phone after school in the Schaumburg and Hanover Park areas. Police
were informed an acquaintance dropped Bonilla off at a train station so
she could travel to Chicago, the release said. Detectives were
investigating a report from the Bonilla family that the teen had an
on-line friendship with a Chicago man in his early 20s. Detectives
developed information through interviews that the girl may have been
staying in the area of Midway Airport, a release Monday afternoon said.
On Monday morning Schaumburg Police detectives concentrated their
efforts in that area. About 2 p.m., Schaumburg Police detectives
located Rachel at a hotel in the 7700 block of South Cicero Avenue, the
release said. She was found in the company of a 27-year old man who
lives in Chicago. Both were being brought to the Schaumburg Police
station for further investigation. The girl was unharmed, police said, and appeared to be in good condition. In
the course of this investigation detectives found a notebook in
Rachel’s school locker containing a letter written to her mother
indicating she was planning on leaving home on her own initiative, the
release said. Police said that despite the fact that she was a
runaway, detectives continued their search efforts for Rachel. Anytime
a child is missing, police stressed, the potential exists for them to
fall to harm’s way and become a victim. Police noted that the
investigation had been obstructed by people giving false or misleading
statements about contact with Bonilla or knowledge of her whereabouts,
according to the earlier release. On Monday afternoon police urged the
public to refrain from speculating on this case via blogs or social
media sites. This case is still under investigation.

The 27-year-old man with whom a runaway Schaumburg teenager was found
in Chicago has been charged with sexual abuse and another teen faces a
charge for helping the girl leave, police said Tuesday.


Jose Alberto Quiroz, of Chicago, is charged with three felony counts
of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, one felony count of possession of
child pornography and one misdemeanor count of harboring a runaway.
Felicia Michelle Chavez, 18, of Elgin, is charged with one felony
count of obstruction of justice for allegedly driving Quiroz and the
16-year-old to the Schaumburg train station so they could travel
together to Chicago. Chavez also lied to authorities during a five-day
search for the teen, police said.
The teen’s family reported her missing to Schaumburg police March 2.
At that time, they told investigators their daughter might have a
relationship with an older man, police said.
Quiroz and the teen met through a telephone chat room, according to
police. Their friendship developed into a relationship, which included
sexual contact at two locations in Schaumburg and Chicago during January
and February, in addition to their time together since the teen left
home, police said.
A note was found in the teen’s locker, addressed to her mother, saying she was leaving home, police said.
On Monday, police found Quiroz and the teen in a motel in the 7700
block of South Cicero in Chicago. They also found pornographic photos of
the girl on Quiroz’s cell phone, police said.
Bail was set at $40,000 for Quiroz this morning, while Chavez was released on her own recognizance.
