Fake Filing Causes Uproar In Casey Case
Michigan Prison Inmate Makes Filing In Casey Anthony Murder Case

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony, who is accused of murder in the death of her daughter, has not asked the judge in her case to remove lead attorney Jose Baez from her defense team.

Some media outlets, including local TV stations in Orlando, reported that Anthony requested the removal of Baez, but Local 6 News has confirmed that the filing was made by a prison inmate in Michigan who was pretending to be representing Anthony and is not connected to her case.
Curtis Jackson, a 35-year-old inmate at the Baraga Maximum Correctional Facility, made the filing using handwritten notes. The filing showed up in an online clerk docket titled "Defendant's Motion for Withdrawal of Appointed Counsel" on Monday night, but Local 6 decided against reporting it after determining that it was fraudulent.
