Through-out this Frye hearing the defense has continued to repeat a statement that there were “only five” of the significant “top 30″ decomposition indicator gases listed in Dr. Vass’s 2008 paper entitled “Odor Analysis of Decomposing Buried Human Remains” detected in Casey’s trunk.

In the last set of articles focused on Dr. Furton’s testimony, I discussed the commonality of the detected 41 compounds listed in Dr. Vass’s report on the air testing of Casey’s trunk that Dr. Vass also designated as being in his overall “decomposition database” also being detected by Dr. Statheropoulos’s studies. This was to show that there is, indeed, a list of compounds that is repeatable between two different groups’ studies.
