Yesterday we found out what caused the recess Saturday morning. The defense (I believe namely Cheney Mason and possibly Ann Finnell in absentia) asked that the court determine if Casey was competent enough to participate in her own defense. In other words, they think she’s bat-shit crazy. I want to speculate a minute about what may have caused this. I don’t think it’s a cheesy last minute attempt to get the trial stopped. I think it’s something else. I think Casey has demanded to take the stand and Cheney was trying to save her from herself. He didn’t succeed.
