Authorities have issued an Amber Alert after a 17-year-old girl was
forced into a vehicle in South Los Angeles by a man who had threatened
to kill her and himself in the past.



Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials said Mayra Martinez was forced into a green Ford
Expedition Monday afternoon in the unincorporated Firestone area.
Investigators believe the suspect is 28-year-old Rafael Ibarra.
They did not release further details on the nature of Martinez's relationship with her abductor.
The 1999 green Ford Expedition's license plate number is 5GBJ226.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert on Monday night after a 17-year-old girl was kidnapped in South Los Angeles.

Mayra Martinez was forced into a 1999 Green Ford Expedition about 3:30 p.m.
near Alameda Avenue and Firestone Boulevard, the L.A. County Sheriff's
Department said. The license plate on the vehicle is 5GBJ226.

The department identified the suspected kidnapper as Rafael Ibarra, 28, who had
previously threatened to kill Martinez and himself, according to authorities.

Ibarra was described as Latino, about 5 feet 6 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt and red hat.
Authorities said Martinez is Latina, about 5 feet 2 and 113 pounds. She was wearing a brown, yellow and blue dress and hoop earrings.

Firestone - A 17-year-old who an Amber Alert
had been issued for was found in Bell late Monday night, appearing to
be unharmed, authorities said.

Suspect Rafael Ibarra, 29, was taken into custody at 11:30 p.m., said
Steve Whitmore of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Mayra Martinez was taken by force at 3:35 p.m. on Alameda Street in the unincorporated on Alameda Street in the unincorporated Firestone area in a green 1999 Ford Expedition, authorities said.

Ibarra had allegedly threatened to kill Martinez in the past, authorities said.
