Authorities are searching for a man with ties to Parker County in a hunt for a missing Mineral Wells girl.
Rosalea Giambanco, age 7, was reported missing Saturday afternoon by
her mother, Janicka Gunn, from their Mineral Wells residence.
Her mother believes she might have been taken by her father, Salvatore
“Slade” Anthony Giambanco, who has often worked as a farrier in the
Parker County horse community.
Gunn said her daughter was in the front yard of their Mineral Wells
home in the 500 block of S.W. 17th Street between 4:30 and 5 p.m.
Saturday playing with her scooter when she went missing.
Rosalea is described as 4-feet tall and 80 pounds with curly, brown hair, brown eyes and finger and toe nails painted pink.
She was wearing a purple, plaid sundress and tan Crocs when she went missing, her mother said.
When she went looking in the neighborhood for her daughter, an employee
at a nearby convenience store said a girl that looked like Rosalea came
in with a man she called her father to get an ice cream cone, Gunn
said.
A Mineral Wells Police spokesperson confirmed authorities are currently
searching for the father, Salvatore “Slade” Giambanco, in relation to
the missing girl. He is described as about 6-foot tall and 180 pounds.
The father, 39, is likely driving a maroon SUV, Gunn said, and has
probably returned to the area near Stephenville, Springtown or
Weatherford. Gunn said Giambanco has a history of assault and she is
concerned for the safety of her daughter.
The Democrat confirmed Giambanco, listing a Millsap address, was
arrested in 2008 by Weatherford police on Florida warrants for
aggravated assault, resisting law enforcement and driving while license
suspended.
Records from Lake County Jail in Florida indicate Giambanco has been
arrested several times on charges ranging from violation of a protective
order to battery and failure to appear.
Gunn said the girl’s father has often worked with horses in the Parker County area.
A Mineral Wells police spokesperson said a multiagency team is
assisting in the search and is working with Gunn to gather as much
information as possible.
Authorities were reportedly unable to issue an Amber Alert in the case,
citing criteria in Texas law that states when a child is taken by a
parent, that parent has to commit murder or attempted murder during the
time of the kidnapping for the alert to be made.
Gunn said she has no custody orders from a judge but her father has not been in contact with the girl in about a year.
“He can drop her off at my job,” Gunn said, pleading for Giambanco to return the 7-year-old to her workplace or her home.
