Re: DRAJOHNTAE DAVISON - 10 yo - St Louis MO
ST. LOUIS • A special education student who
slipped away from a summer school program and wandered the city
four nearly nine hours was upset because he wanted to play kick
ball, a school spokesman said.
Police said Drajohntae Davison, 10, was found safe about 9:15
p.m. in far south St. Louis — miles away from the school where he
was last seen about 12:30 p.m. Drajohntae, who had no visible
injuries, was spotted walking near Interstate 55 and Weber Road,
St. Louis police said.
He has been reunited with his family.
Drajohntae was part of a summer program at Shaw Visual and
Performing Arts Elementary at 5329 Columbia Avenue on the Hill,
according to Patrick Wallace, director of communications for St.
Louis Public Schools.
Drajohntae became upset when the time for kick ball wrapped up,
Wallace said. He ran through the gym, onto a stage behind curtains
and out a door
School officials and police checked the school, including with
dogs, to make sure Drajohntae was not hiding there, before
beginning a search outside.
Wallace said authorities believe the boy had walked about 10
miles as he tried to find his way home. Instead, he ended up
lost.
"For us, we are happy it ended well," Wallace said.
Wallace said he could not discuss disciplinary issues but said
there was no further investigation of the incident planned.
