Orlando, FL — The mystery issue that forced Judge Belvin Perry Jr. to call off testimony on Saturday in the trial of Casey Anthony has been revealed: defense attorneys wanted to know if Anthony was mentally competent to stand trial.
Judge Perry told the court Monday morning he had ordered 3 mental health experts to examine Anthony on Saturday and Sunday. With those evaluations done, Perry ruled that he found her competent and the trial should proceed.
“Based upon the reports that the court has reviewed, the court will find that the defendant is competent to continue to proceed,” Perry said.
