Massachusetts State Police have issued an AMBER Alert. The following information is from the Massachusetts State Police:
Suspect MATTHEW SLOCUM (above), a white male. SLOCUM is wanted for questioning for a homicide that was committed early this morning in New York state. We believe SLOCUM is traveling with his girlfriend, LORETTA COLEGROVE, a white female, and their child, RAYMOND SLOCUM, age 4.
MATTHEW SLOCUM is approximately 5’11’-6’ tall and 195 lbs. with brown hair. SLOCUM is believed to have swatstika tattoos on his forearms.
LORETTA COLEGROVE is approximately 5’9” tall.
They may be traveling in a black 2003 Ford Mustang, with two doors, and bearing N.Y. registration DED1769.
Reports indicate that SLOCUM may be holding the woman and their child against their will. We have further information that SLOCUM may be armed. We believe they were traveling on North Street in the Town of Adams, Massachusetts, at approximately 5 a.m. this morning.
We will update you if and when an AMBER Alert is activated in the state of Massachusetts or when there is new information to report. At this point, there is no further information available. Media may report the above information, as we have enough information at this point to have concern that this child and his mother may be in danger. Media may also note that an AMBER is being considered. Please ask anyone who sees these people or the vehicle, or know anything of their whereabouts, to call 911 immediately.

Man apprehended in N.H. after daylong pursuitJuly 13, 2011 11:51 PM
By Travis Andersen, Globe Staff
The daylong pursuit of a man wanted for questioning in a fatal house fire in New York State who may have abducted his girlfriend and 4-month-old son came to an end Wednesday night in New Hampshire, with the man being apprehended and the woman and child found safe.
Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said in a phone interview late Wednesday night that Matthew Slocum, 23, was apprehended inside a home in the town of Gilsum, N.H., shortly before 10 p.m.
Procopio said that Slocum’s girlfriend, Loretta Colegrove, 25, and infant son, Raymond Slocum, were also in the home and appeared to be in good health.
Slocum is wanted for questioning in connection with a house fire that killed three people early Wednesday morning, according to Procopio. The fire occurred 35 miles northeast of Albany in White Creek, N.Y., and the victims were Matthew Slocum’s mother, her husband, and her husband’s son, the Associated Press reported.
Authorities had issued an Ambert Alert yesterday and asked members of the public to be on the lookout for a 2003 black Ford Mustang that Slocum may have been driving. The car was found in Gilsum in the afternoon.
Massachusetts State Police said earlier Wednesday that Slocum may have been holding his girlfriend and son against their will. The Mustang was spotted at about 5 a.m. in Adams, Procopio said.
He said New Hampshire State Police later received a tip that Slocum may have driven to a home in Gilsum, where the New Hampshire State Police SWAT team later apprehended him. Details on the home’s owner were not released Wednesday night.
A spokesman for New Hampshire State Police could not be reached for comment late Wednesday night. It was not immediately clear when or where Slocum would make a court appearance, or the specific charges he will be facing.

Re: RAYMOND SLOCUM - 4 yo - Adams, MA
An Amber alert issued for Matthew Slocum, 23, his girlfriend,
25-year-old Loretta Colegrove and their infant has been deactivated.
Police say Slocum, who is wanted for questioning in connection to a
triple homicide in New York, is in custody. His girlfriend and their
child are safe. Matthew Slocum is the son of Lisa Harrington, who died in the fire
early Wednesday along with her husband, Dan, and his son Josh in White
Creek, 35 miles northeast of Albany, state police said.
The Amber alerts were issued after Slocum left the burning home in a
black 2003 Ford Mustang. He was reported near Adams, Mass., at about 5
a.m., and authorities said the empty vehicle was found late Wednesday
afternoon in Gilsum, N.H., 75 miles northeast of there.
Guns known to be in the home couldn’t be accounted for, and police
told the Glens Falls Post-Star they were asking neighbors whether they
heard shots before the fire.
Dan Harrington was a deputy highway superintendent. “They were good
people. Dan was a real good employee,” White Creek town Supervisor Bob
Shay told the Post-Star. “We all feel horrible. It’s just so sad.”
He said Harrington and his wife served on the town recreation committee.
Slocum went to prison in 2006 for breaking into a house and stealing
cash, a New York prison spokesman said. He was released but returned to
custody twice for violations before his parole expired in December 2009.
On Wednesday afternoon, emergency crews remained on the scene of the
charred remains of the house, set back from a remote country road on
heavily wooded property.
Police haven’t released any information about the cause of the fire.

WHITE CREEK -- Matthew Slocum
shot three White Creek residents in their home, then ignited the house
to cover it up, authorities said this evening during
Slocum's arraignment.Slocum, 23, is now charged with three counts
of second-degree murder and a count each of first and second-degree
arson after the arraignment in White Creek Town Court. He pleaded not
guilty, was sent to the Washington County jail without bail and will
return to court Tuesday.Slocum agreed Thursday morning to be
returned from New Hampshire, where he surrendered Wednesday night. He is
accused of killing Dan Harrington, his wife Lisa, and son Josh early Wednesday. During the arraignment before Town Justice Philip J. Sica,
family members of the victim filled part of the courtroom's front row.
One of them shouted, "See what it's like, you creep," and had to be
restrained by a sheriff's deputy.Slocum turned himself in to
authorities about 10 p.m. Wednesday in Gilsum, N.H., after a standoff.
Law enforcement authorities from three states spent the day searching
for him, his girlfriend, Loretta Colegrove,
and their 4-month old son, Raymond Slocum. Colegrove and the baby were
found unharmed and are in Massachusetts with Colegrove's mother. The
search began shortly after the suspicious and deadly house fire early
Wednesday morning at 118 Turnpike Road in White Creek. White Creek Town Supervisor Bob Shay said Dan Harrington was the deputy highway superintendent.Autopsies were being performed Thursday afternoon. The Keene Sentinel in New Hampshire reported the details of Wednesday night's standoff at a Gilsum home: About
9:30 p.m., police could be heard speaking to Slocum with a bullhorn,
telling the man to answer a cell phone, that no one wanted to hurt him
and asking him not to hurt anyone. Some 15 minutes later, a barefoot Colegrove, carrying the baby in her arms, appeared from the home. Both were taken to the N.H. State Police Troop C barracks in Keene, according to State Police Col. Robert Quinn.Lt. Chris Aucoin
of N.H. State Police Troop B, who leads the state police SWAT team,
said Slocum surrendered peacefully after successful negotiation. He
declined to comment on whether police had talked to Slocum on the phone
before his surrender."We continued to talk to him throughout the evening," Aucoin said. "We attempted to reason with him on numerous occasions."Fortunately, he did listen to reason and he did peacefully surrender to the authorities."Police also declined to comment on whether Colegrove was being held against her will."The baby and the mother are fine," Aucoin said. "They came out on their own, there was no violence, there was no resistance."They intentionally gave themselves up."Records
show Slocum went to prison in 2006 for breaking into a house and
stealing cash, a New York prison spokesman said. Slocum was released but
returned to custody twice for violations before his parole expired in
December 2009.State fire investigators continued sifting through
the rubble Thursday, looking for clues to the cause of the White
Creek blaze. Washington County officials, state fire officials
and police prevented onlookers from getting near the house, which cannot
be seen from the road. Passersby have left flowers and votive candles
at the driveway.Officials confirmed everyone involved -- the
Harringtons, Slocum, Colegrove and their son -- all lived at the
Turnpike Road address.

Matthew Slocum surrenders, Amber Alert for four month old canceled
July 16, 2011
A suspect who faces murder and arson charges, and was wanted in an Amber
Alert issued for his four month old son, surrendered to authorities on
July 13, 2011. Matthew Slocum, 23, faces charges in the shooting deaths
