"Jane" GONZALES - 5 yo (19 pounds) - Oklahoma City OK

A five-year-old girl was found
weighing just 19lbs - half the average weight for her age - after her
mother allegedly forced her to live in a closet because she looked too
much like her father.

Marie Gonzales has been charged with child abuse and neglect after
allegedly starving and beating her daughter at their home in Oklahoma
City.
The little girl was severely malnourished. The bones in her joints were
visible, her arms and legs were painfully thin and she was covered in
marks from being beaten with a cord, police said.Social
workers said the 31year-old's other five children appeared healthy, but
Gonzales allegedly targeted the little girl because she looked the most
like her father, and the couple had fallen out.She allegedly locked her daughter in the closet and gave her just a cup in which to urinate and defecate.Gonzales is also accused of withholding food from her daughter, so her weight fell to just 19lbs, The Oklahoman reported.Social workers found the little girl on Monday, and immediately called police.

Denton police, acting on a warrant from Oklahoma City police, arrested a
woman Thursday afternoon on charges of child neglect.

Denton police Capt. Lenn Carter said Friday that officers went to the
1000 block of Baldwin Street about 2 p.m. and arrested 50-year-old Maria
Gonzales. She was then picked up at city jail by Oklahoma City officers,
who had alerted local authorities to her possible presence and asked for
help in apprehending her.

Carter said the charge was in connection with the discovery of Gonzales’
5-year-old granddaughter, who only weighed 19 pounds when she was found.

According to Oklahoma City news reports, officers there arrested the
child’s mother, an aunt and a man living in the house with them. They
began searching for Gonzales when one of five other children in the
household told them that she tended to the children at least two days a
week while their mother worked, according to the reports.

She apparently came to Denton to stay with another daughter, according
to reports.

Someone reported to child protection workers that a child in the house
was being abused, according to the news reports. They found her in a
closet with bruises consistent with being beaten with a cord. She
weighed less than she had when she received a checkup at 18 months old,
according to the reports.

Initial report was that it was the pictured's daughter. Follow up indicates that it was her granddaughter for whom she was "caring".
Now, the actual mother and two other adults have also been charged.
Four adults knew what was going on. Not one stood up for the children.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City mother and her boyfriend accused of unspeakable child abuse go before a judge Monday.

Asusena Gonzales is accused of neglecting her
5-year-old daughter to the point the little girl weighed only 19 pounds.
Her boyfriend, Sergio Almeida, is accused of allowing it to happen.

The little girl is now in protective state
custody, as are her other siblings. Now Gonzales, Almeida and the girls
grandmother, Maria Gonzales are in custody, charged with felony abuse
and neglect.

Asusena Gonzales kept her arms crossed and kept her eyes down through most of her video arraignment.

This is not her first time before a judge for reported child abuse. She was also charged with it in 2009.

Almeida is charged with enabling the neglect.
Asusena's daughter was found living in a closet with only a cup to use
for the bathroom. Police report you could see the little girl's bones
through her skin she was so malnourished. But the other children were
said to be fine and healthy.

The judge denied bond for both Asusena and Sergio. Both will be back in court on August 11.
