Casey Anthony...Headed to federal court for the murder of her daughter?

Casey Anthony, the now infamous Florida mother who was aquitted in the murder of her daughter, two year old Caylee Marie Anthony, to the outrage of the nation, may not be off scott free just yet. A petition has been filed throught the powerful petition site, Change.Org to demand that Florida federal officials try Anthony in the murder of her daughter on the federal level.

While the United States Constitution provides protection against a defendant being tried more than once in state court for the same offense, the constitution offers no protection against an indidual being tried for the same offense under two separate branches of government. As a result, there is no verbiage in the constitution that states that an individual acquitted of criminal charges in state court is protected from being tried on the federal level.
