Burlington
police discovered a teenage girl who had been reported missing when
they executed a search warrant at a home on Lakeside Avenue.
The search yielded a Smith & Wesson handgun, twelve prescription
pills and crack cocaine, as well as Catherine Nicole Leonard, a
16-year-old who had been missing since Tuesday, July 26.
Dorsey Lewis Booker, 56, was charged by the Burlington Police Department
with possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a felon, and
possession of a Schedule II prescription medication. Booker was placed
in the Alamance County jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
Capt. Steve Smith said police had no idea Leonard would be at the
residence when they executed the search warrant at 331 Lakeside Avenue.
Smith also said police still don’t know the connection between Leonard
and Booker.
Leonard had been reported missing from a group home for the second
time in a week. She was first reported missing Saturday, July 23, and
was found Monday, July 25 in Stokes County, and was again reported
missing from the group home the next day.
Leonard wasn’t charged with drug violations, though she was charged
with resist, delay and obstruct for allegedly giving officers a
fictitious name. She was placed in the Alamance County jail under a $300
secured bond.
