Police Say Mother Took The Child From Hospital

PHILADELPHIA - Pennsylvania State Police issue an Amber Alert for a 2-day-old baby who was allegedly abducted by his mother from University of Pennsylvania Hospital.

According to state police, the University of Pennsylvania Police Department is searching for the newborn black male, who is in need of medical attention.

The boy was taken from the University of Pennsylvania Hospital at approximately noon Thursday. He was wearing a diaper and a one-piece outfit. An alarm sensor was attached to the child’s umbilical cord.

According to authorities, the boy was taken by his mother, 39-year-old Tonya Dixon, who was described as a black woman last seen wearing cream-colored pants, a yellow shirt, a black jacket and a long black wig.

State police said Dixon left with the child in a silver, four-door Dodge sedan that was operated by another unidentified individual.

Anyone with information about the abduction should immediately contact the police by calling 911.

(AP) — Authorities have found a missing 2-day-old baby boy who
triggered an Amber Alert after he was allegedly abducted from a Philadelphia hospital by his mother.
Philadelphia police say the baby and his mother, 39-year-old Tonya Dixon, were found shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday. Police say Dixon had taken the child, who is in need of medical care, from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania around noon.
Police say the newborn had already been placed in the custody of the Department of Human Services, which has custody of the woman's seven other children.
The baby will be transported back to the hospital and police say the mother is in police custody.
